Shurflo Pump

I have just began the Pressure Washing journey.. I have decided to include "soft wash" roof washing as one of my services..

I happen to own one of these Shurflow pumps that I never got around to installing in a boat i just sold:
http://www.easternmarine.com/Shurflo-Blaster-Washdown-Pump-12v-3901-2214/

would this pump work for a roof system or should I go the PressureTek route? I really like their systems; but want to take advantage of my pump and only buy the rest of their system.

Reasons I think it would work:
-It should be able to take chemicals as it is used to pump salt water as a washdown method.
-It's 12V and matches most of the specs of the other pumps sold specifically for roof washing.
The only reason I am worried about it not working is that it is only 45psi not 65 or 100 or 150..

Thoughts?

You really need more than 45 psi and need the viton seals at least.

I would go with professional equipment as if this pump is not the right kind, not enough pressure or flow, you will not only waste your time, not be able to do the job and not look too professional out there when trying to work.

For professional results it is always best to buy professional equipment. You will need to buy hoses, fittings, hose reel, tanks, etc....... They sell kits with most if not everything you need so it helps you save time and money.

Have you decided who you are going to go and train with to learn how to do roof cleaning without damaging people's property? What city are they located?

I believe it is 3.5gpm.

Chris: I am looking to buy a complete kit (minus the pump) from Pressure Tek (if my pump is sufficient... If it is not I am going to purchase the Flojet 57 kit (which includes the pump) and the "add a box" upgrade.
I have decided to attend the Expo in Tampa to learn as much possible (you posted in my intro, so im sure you read it). I plan to gain more knowledge and experience by practicing on my roof, and family members roofs.

Check out Paul at Powerwashstore.com too. He just came out with a great system I bought. Works great and saved me about $800.00

The specs don't say what the pump seals or diaphragm are made of. The pump needs to viton seals to last. The gpm and psi will work fine. I don't like the delhanlen5800 pumps, they over heat to quickly. Find a sure flow with viton seals. Just my opinion! Bob at pressure tek is very helpful and a great vendor.

That pump MAY last you a week or two. Buy the right equipment for the jobs your doing and save yourself tons of headaches. Especially when it come to roof cleaning.
