Help with stucco building estimate!

Hello,

I'm very new to pressure washing, this will actually be my first job. A friend of the family owns this business and would like to have the front of it washed. He said his maintenance guy tried to use bleach and pressure wash it, but it didn't come clean. It's stucco, about 18 feet tall, and 250 feet long. I was planning on trying bleach, dish soap, and an all purpose cleaner. Does that sound about right?

What should I use to clean this and how much would you bid it at?

Another job I need help with is a 300 foot long stone retaining wall, it's 12-4 feet tall, most of it about 10 feet. Any idea what price I should charge? It's residential.

Thank you,

Andrew Rowden

Is it "real" stucco or dryvit or eifs? You don't need to be putting much pressure on it if it is dryvit. Either way, I would make up something like a weak roof cleaning mix and spray it on with a low pressure direct chemical application pump like a delevan or shurflo. Then rinse it with a pressure washer using low pressure spray tips ...something you can put your hand in front of.

Unless you have done this type of work its best to walk away and NOT damage the surface.

Chems alone can remove the color if your not careful as well or change the color.

This is something that is best suited for a legitimate softwash system, high volume soap application and under 400 psi pressure rinse

Thanks guys! I know it's not good to practice on this guys building, but I've gotta learn somehow. I'll just try it on a small spot first. Any idea how long it will take? 2-3 hours? It's just the front of the building.

What would be a reasonable price to charge? The only suggestion I got was 100 a hour, but I can't do that or I'll end up charging way more than anyone else. He's a good friend of the family. He will probably pay whatever I ask, but I want to give him a fair deal. 500? And I know this isn't a great job to practice on, but he is a good friend of the family, I don't know any way to just practice on stucco.

This is a tough job to start out with. If he's a good friend wouldn't you want to give him an experience professional to handle the job? Maybe he should hire someone else with the agreement that you can work with that company free of charge for some valuable experience that you can use on your next Drivit Job. Mess the siding up you could mess up your friendship.

Your already telling us that the first guy used bleach and it wouldn't work so your idea is to use bleach again. Thats inexperience talking right there. Learn from a pro because you can really screw up his siding if you don't do it right.

Good Luck
