Ask Hydrotek a Question

Why do the use the cheap worm clamp type bands and plastic fuel tanks?

Bands break when the summer heat makes the tanks expand. It will be awesome if they would go to metal tanks like the Alkotas we used before.

All and all I like the Hydrotek better so far except for that. Just cheapens them in my opinion

1st offer Kawasaki engines ........7 out of 10 Lco (Landscapers) run Kaw's for a reason. They Last !!!!

2nd Gas Reclaim ......From what we read on here the electric model they offer is junk and someone seems to always have one for sale.

3rd offer a cold water 6 and 8 gpm machine. You are missing the boat

4th Before you launch a piece of equipment let the members of pwi try it out before full production. The pole is a great tool but using 1/4 hose is useless. 3/8 is the only way to go. Were not homeowners ........we downstream

5th Have a company rep. post on pwi.....

Lou, I dont think a 6 or 8 gpm machine is a viable option due to the fact there are so many out there already that are good machines and are cheap and easy to assemble. I dont think they could be competitive with pricing in comparison to pressure pro, I have 2 pressure pro cold machines that I have had zero trouble with and hold up fine, I HATE their hot water washers though because the wiring is garbage and the frames are thin walled and cheap.

You guys made me laugh.(comments about H tek give aways)

Lou I have been wondering about the KAI for a long time (I have some on mowers), I think Landa has a KAI option on a PW

They may be looking into the gas reclaim unit.

Talking about improving, You guys saw the new surface cleaner from Karacher, it recovers with no external vac, similar to the S5.

Servicing is a prime concern for me. If all the attachments were JIC instead of thread dope, it makes it far easier to replace parts. I also like a frame that is 1.25-1.5 inch diameter tubing. The stainless covers on the machine, although they are slick and make the machines pretty are pretty useless in my opinion. I also think they are more likely to hold heat in in the Arizona heat. I am not a severe critic of the plastic tanks, but they do need o be stabilized for uv. If the colors start fading quickly, I get concerned.

I have had a couple of hydroteks great machines, that little belt that was on the generator was my only problem. However since we are on the subject i to have on of the extension poles with the little hose on it also. The pin that goes through and holds the gun in place comes out way to easy it slipped out the first time i used it what a sight. Its in the back of the box truck for sale if anybody needs one.The other suggestion is put a bigger hose on the 28 inch surface cleaner and use at least 3/8 hose and fittings.I like the plastic tanks rather have faded color than rust in one.

Nigel, do you have pictures or links to the new surface cleaner and the S5?

They have been tuning here since the BBS was started.

Don't know much about the Kaw. motors, Honda & Kohler have held up great for us.

I totally agree on the gas reclaim idea. Electric can only do so much, which isn't much if you do large volume work

From what I understand HT reads over the boards quite a bit.

Personally I am very impressed with their equipment. Hydrotek listens and wants feedback from Contractors. Next year for sure I'll have that 9 gpm unit on a trailer.
