What about NCE Certifying at every event?

I think that having a certificate in each aspect of pressure washing is a good marketing idea.

We all know that a certificate is a piece of paper and some people doing certifications have no business doing so but what about NCE Certifications by leaders in each category or guys with a lot of experience to certify those that want certifications?

I don't think that it would hurt to have a certificate but I think it would hold a lot more weight if it was done by NCE instead of by the orgs out there as they are all having their credibility issues, issues with things going on behind doors, etc.....

Some of the common certifications would be for: House Washing, Building Washing or a combination of both, Fleet Washing, Concrete Cleaning, Awning Cleaning, Window Cleaning, Wood Restoration, and Roof Cleaning, maybe others that I am not thinking about right this minute also.

Sirocco already has their Wash Water Control Certification which is great and SealNLock has their certification.

I first did not think that it would be a good idea to have certifications as there are always contractors out there that are hacks that can get certified and the certification does not ever guarantee good work done 100% of the time but it would help educate everyone and raise the bar and it would help with marketing some.

The question is who would be those that are asked to do the certifications, I guess that would be up to NCE and their judgement, I think that they would choose the right people for the jobs.

It would be nice to have all these certification opportunities at each event so that people would not have to go to a lot of events and spend a lot of money out of their pockets to get certified.

Maybe have the certifications 2 times during the event or after hours so they could listen to the speakers that they really wanted to hear besides getting certified.

What do you think?

I'm curious to hear other thoughts on this subject. I agree that they are a good idea, but it has to be different than certifications offered by the orgs. The couple that I looked into seemed like a joke to me and a waste of money. You could get on here and look around for a couple hours and be more knowledgeable than a "certified" contractor. Jerry's class on the other hand is very informative, and someone with his certification IS going to be knowledgeable in wash water recovery. Jerry's class is kinda long but by the end I was more knowledgeable in a lot of the mechanical aspects of the equipment also. Good info

The NCE certification courses are much more elaborate than the regular org certifications. All the courses that are being prepared have been reviewed and approved by several experienced contractors to be sure the important information is covered fully and completely. They are also longer and more in depth than the regular 1 hour basic coverage you get at the events. (at least my course is and I know Jerry Mc Millen and Russ Johnsons course is as well)

These are some of the reasons that I think that NCE should start having certification classes.

NCE can start marketing these classes for the upcoming events next year.

Contractors that want the marketing edge in their companies would benefit from NCE Certifications and NCE could have a page on their site with Certified Contractors that customers could search to find in their areas, like what Sirocco is doing for the Wash Water program. The more things like certifications (real classes with real info and real professional contractors giving the classes, not the 1 hour fly and go classes) will help raise the level of professionalism, help with marketing, help customers pick contractors that care about their profession and will probably help the customers pick contractors that will do a quality job.

Like I mentioned, at first I did not like the idea of the certifications but now with the org handing them out like pancakes, I think that NCE could turn out better programs by better contractors and have better courses. NCE could market these certifications through the NCE website and help customers pick contractors that have certifications. With a little effort, certifications through NCE could easily be found on the internet, have more credibility than other certifications out there and give the contractors that are certified an edge in marketing and sales.

Just my opinion.

Not sure if Tony is still offering his class on coil cleaning but having a certificate through Sonitx shows that you care to do a thorough job, will not damage the property but if you do you are fully trained to fix the damage to the fins and offer a cleaning that can not only be seen but can be measured before and after with temp readings and flow readings. Another certification to help with the marketing and sales.

Well it's a definite possibility.

We have certified instructors.

Certified Wash Water Control Specialist

Since I have been certified 2 times, does that make me an Ultimate Certified Wash Water Control Specialist?

Or how about Master level 2 Certified Wash Water Control Specialist?

Just kidding. hahahahaha

BTW.. I have condensed my course to a 3-4 hour class, plus the hands-on training,
but in a more intimate venue.. that is with fewer in the room.. the questions and info can go on for hours.
Intelligent questions get intelligent answers,
and dumb questions are treated with patience. :thumbup2:

We received our certification from Jerry and NCE in San Diego earlier in the year and it was top notch all the way around. The "info" from Jerry had depth and made sense. Since then we have used our certification as one of many marketing tools and have landed some very good jobs. We are currently working with the Dept of Fish and Game on some projects at duck clubs and boat ramps where this certification afforded us a foot in the door. We have recently purchased the necessary equipment to reclaim our water....so yes...I think there is certainly merit in this idea and/or discussion relating to NCE being in the forefront of certification classes. Through all the "ups and downs" in our industry I can honestly say that Kory and Ron have sustained a forward momentum with NCE.

NCE Tampa was my first ever RT/Event in this industry. My plan was to just kind of hang out and observe and see what goes on. I am kicking myself now for not taking more cert classes. I was astounded at the event Kory and Ron put on. To me it ran flawlessly and the giving to charity is what really made me proud to be part of the event, not to mention meeting some great people and having some great fellowship.

A certification may fill a space on the wall or give a warm, fuzzy feeling, BUT- It means nothing in the real world. People don't care if you are certified by someone. They want their stuff cleaned. Remember when everyone had a Wolmans certificate for taking an online quiz? I still see that stuff on people's websites.

But people, (not all) do want to know if you are educated in what you are cleaning. While having a certification can't hurt, it most cetainly can do nothing but help.
