Take care of your clients...

Most corporations are not allowed to receive gifts from vendors, I have actually got letters to inform me of this.

We give out cakes at this time of year to our customers. I usually ask which cakes they would like this year and deliver them personally this time of the year. I only deliver cakes to major customers and the largest ones get a couple cakes because they usually have more staff in the office to feed with those cakes. the choices are

Devils Food
3 Layer Caramel
3 Layer Red Velvet
3 Layer German Chocolate
3 Layer Carrot
3 Layer Pineapple Coconut
3 Layer Italian Cream
3 Layer Coconut

We gave out homemade (from a store) chocolates this year. None of our clients complain. They have more of a shocked look then anything. Today I even used my daughter as the hand off person...she was introducing herself and telling GM's and PM's thanks for being our client and have a great holiday....Great for a 5 yr old as she is learning the meaning of giving. She knows if dad didnt have these clients she wouldnt have Barbies...lol. As for the big guys, well most have a limit...like up to $20 or $25. Anything more is too much.

Our publicly traded customers are not allowed gifts - we have donated to a charity of their choice with their name (... thanks Ron ;-)) and make a point of doing work out with the contracted scope of work (entry sidewalks and parking lot sidewalks and curbs) during the year, this is a thank you to the best customers only... The PM's appreciate us making them look good!

Our publicly traded clients get a nice dinner and drinks. This was from a family owned mgmt company. One of the Largest in Louisville.

If your doing it for the right reason and are honest then you will be fine.

Law is the law , got nothing to do with right reasons. There clients see this online or get wind of it. It can get ugly.

I'll make a video about Wally world. I had security visit me over a plate of cookies.

I have never been inside a jail voluntarily, or by force. I have no intention of becoming a resident, either. Because of the type of client I have, I make every effort to avoid the very appearance of a payoff.

But if the payoff is done for the right reason..... :p
