This is Why We Moved to Florida!

I hate cold weather more than anything!! 3 1/2 years ago, I moved my family to St Augustine, Florida to start a new life and a new business. The winter weather is really nice most of the time. Also, with us close enough to the beach to hear the waves, the cool ocean breezes in the summer keep the temp in the 80's at my house most of the time even though the temp further inland is well into the 90's. Hope all is having a good 2012 so far!

The reason we live here is you guys get 55 inches of rain per year and we get less then 5, and most of it usually comes all at once in a couple of days in July! I've got a scratch on a vehicle that's years old and it still hasn't rusted!

But your temps are sure better there. We're in the 60/38 range all week.

I miss Charleston for that reason. We were out on the beach in January with hoodies and shorts. I don't mind living in GA cause that is where I have been my whole life and where my friends and family are...but my son has it in his head that it is supposed to snow every year here now because it has the last few years. I keep telling him not to expect it but he's got his heart set on it. lol

Without the Yankees you would be P/W driveways for $20.00, we brought all the money down with us. I would say that 75% of all the big jobs we do down here are from people from the Northeast.

I agree Nick, I remember when I lived there, if it wasn't for the damn yankees my account would have no damn money. Love them Yankess, as long as there at home and not in their car.

I just spent 10 days in Atlanta, Savannah and St. Simons Island in Georgia when it wasn't raining the humidity was pretty high, but at least this time there were not so many bugs...

Yeah, you got a point Nick. It tends to be the former damnyankees that are my best customers, and the local yokels that are out working for $10/hr gross. Im from NC so I cant claim purity, but can at least claim southern born and bread. (well not exactly but its too long a story)

American by Birth, Southern by the Grace of God!

It wasnt to long ago this yankee took you out on a commercial job, I think after that you realized what production with the right equipment was.

Nice Nick,
I think years ago I thanked you for that, but if you remember, I already had 1 skid compared to your two. Went out with you to see if I wanted to pursue that type of work. The only other thing I didnt have was your ability to hook to a fire hydrant. Never indicated I could match your production. As the years have gone by, I have gotten to that level of production, but dont have any desire to do the work you do on the level you do it.
My saying 'damnyankee' is a joke here in my family and circle of friends, there is nothing personal in it against you or any of your ilk who move here. Florida would be a pretty poor state with out all of you.

Don't know why you felt it necessary to say that, but its ok by me if Im known as the one Nick influenced, even if it's not really based on reality.

Did i know you were from NC jon? Maybe i did, what part of NC?

Jon, chill out I was only defending the Yanks. I am sure you are more than capable for a redneck. And I know that you went out and bought an 8 gpm machine right after working for me, so I dont know what your talking about?

Matt,
Savannah was a side trip. Had some business in Atlanta and also in Jacksonville.
What were you doing in the Sav

Oh that sounds nice, Oregon is freezing and wet right now. Last year we were in Kona, HI for a few weeks.

I ran down to the Keys because its too cold in NJ right now. Is there anyone here doing work in the Keys?? There looks like a ton of work to be done down here. Im thinking of bringing a few rigs down for next winter. Just thinkin.

I have been putting out seeds and there seems to be NO ONE in the florida keys. There will be next winter! Innovative Pressure Cleaning. Spoke to some commercial complexes and they are interested. Looks like a few hotels down here in need as well. If there is a PW company down here on the boards better get going because when we hit the town we are going to wash the whole place in the winter!

Seems like the better hotels are interested in our services next winter. Talked to a few marinas and time shares in key west. My wife was laughing at me today. I stopped in a really nice time share resort and was talking to the PM about the safety of keeping the place clean. The guy wants us to give him a price to clean around the pool and sidewalks around the tiki bar. I shot him a high price and he didnt even flinch. Got to call him when I get in town. My wife says you can money anyware cant you? Yup! I love my job.

Anybody from the Keys???
