OK here's the thing.....

Honda GX-670 low hrs. about to be put into use. Have not even fueled it up yet, but mounted on trailer and ready to go. Connected battery today, just curious and bumped the starter.....no problem there, but I noticed before I bumped the starter I didn't hear the "Click" of the fuel solenoid.

Have 12v+ to solenoid, checked wire under air filter, as close to solenoid as possible.
Oil level correct
Runs with starter fluid

Do I Have a potential problem here???

2nd question... Fuel line from tank to machine is about 9ft (1/4" fuel line) is this too far for the fuel pump? If so, would adding a primer bulb help?

Some of the solenoids are quieter then others. I would not worry huge about that. I would worry a bit about the lngth of the fuel line. That seems awfully long to me.

It really would make life on the fuel pump easier. If the engine has been run in the past, and gas was left in the carb, you can guarantee the solenoid piston is all varnished up and stuck.

#17 is what you're going in after.

Guy, you'll love the big tank. We just put a15 gallon tank on the trailer for 2 of our machines and its great. Its nice not running out of gas at 2 in the afternoon!

One of our lines is about 7 feet long and we've ran it a hard week with no problems... yet!

Ok, pulled the carb and took the solenoid off.....stuck tighter than dicks hatband. Cleaned it up, put everything back together. Solenoid "click" when keyswitch is turned, so we're good there. Will fuel the tank tomorrow and fire her up.

Is this just a "Honda" issue or does this happen to the kolhers & Briggs motors too?

Varnish knows no nationality. It's an equal opportunity invader.

I like that Russ, lol,

so whats the best way to store the previously run engine for extended periods (3 to 6 months) and what should be the startup additives/procedure to the fuel/engine

(shut my units down for the winter with fuel stabilizer (heavy) in tank, ran kohler for 15 mins prior )

I need to start using Stabil in my tanks in the machines I don't run all the time, after 4 or 6 months of non-use I have to get the carbs cleaned out so they will run again.

I wonder how long the Stabil would be good for in small gas engines?

Thanks Russ.

Sea foam is good too it will clean it all up. Just add some of that in your gas with your first fill. I agree about the primer bulb too it will make a difference at startup if you run it out of fuel.

Guy if you washed trucks you wouldnt have to put any thing in it but gas lol.

That's true Hal.
Thing is, Guy doesn't have to wash trucks lol
