Hello forum,

I am currently looking to hire an SEO firm to redo my website and get me seen on page 1. I have an idea of cost but I have no idea who to hire. Please send me any information you might have on someone YOU PERSONALLY used and how this SEO firm has helped you. I would also appreciate your keyword list so that I can go back and check. Ive made some mistakes when it came to SEO so I am quite apprehensive. Looking for a long term partner and someone with proven results.

thanks

Thanks Doug,

I will give him a call. What were your results pre/post SEO? I believe this would be a great thread for all forum members as the info presented here wouldve alleviated a ton of mistakes for me pre-doing my own reseach. How well does he have you ranking in Houston-a big city? Would you be able to share some keyword ideas?

Thanks Guy,

What I have done:

purchased URLS with the intended keyword, researched keyword popularity on Google adwords, tried text writing on my own to pepper my site with these keywords, looked up my keyword competition on SEM RUSH. I am pretty familiar with terminology-the aspects of SEO and what causes ranking-I also have good understanding on price and monthly charges.

However their is over 100 hours of my reseach and I still dont know how to : (1) submit my site to some supposed "600 listing directories" (2) properly write text so that google picks it up (3) wordpress my site (4) be competetive with more then 1 keyword (3) gauge and write landing pages so they arent picked off by goggle (4) see immediate results from URLs

Ive come to the conclusion that my last site had brought me enough of what Ive asked. Now that I am starting this new roof cleaning/powerwashing venture , I am seeking to learn from my mistakes and hire a professional to do it since -just like we are called on situations that a homeowner needs expert advice it is very apparent to me after 100 hours that , I still am not going to get it. It is also apparent to me that when launching a new site it is simply a waste of money to not do it search engine friendly and to not draw customers to your site immediately . Why would I hang a Di Vinci in my basement?

So really at this point after through reading-researching and understanding I am at a point where I am looking for (1) cost effectiveness (2) a valid and reputable SEO firm who has valid and reputable referrals ( such as persons from this site ) to check with.

Thanks again guy and anything you can give me in regards to SEO and whats worked with you would be greatly appreciated.

Vick, not taking away from anyone here, but I have to ask what seo have you done to your site? I would start reading up on seo so you will have a better understanding about what it is and what you can do about it. This can save thousands in the long run.

Just Saying.

+10.....

There are guys out there that can help you but I would not believe anyone out there that says or can "guarantee" that they can get you on the google 1st page. I get calls weekly and emails almost daily about how they can do this. All of them are scams and using blackhat methods that can get your permanently banned from google when, not if you get caught then you have to start with a new domain name all over again.

I have heard good things about Pat, I have talked to him about changing my site and it sounds like he really knows what to do.

The website by itself is not the whole answer, there are other things that you have to do.

What exactly do you want? More hits? More calls? More leads? Names to sell to listowners? Leads to sell to other contractors?

You don't have anything in your signature on what you do for work, you need to fix your signature, it is the rules here.

Chris

I didnt put too much on my profile because its not relative to the discussion or thread. I changed my info for those of you who want to know what it is I do. I am on here seeking info-merely that solely that. Ive been an avid reader to this and other forums for over a year. I am set to launch a new venture and am going back on mistakes Ive made the first time-such as not hiring an SEO company from the gate.

Approximately 70% of all American households use the net to find their next service provider. WEBSITE is essentially your salesman. I am looking for recommendations on valid-tried-and referenced SEO companys who I might be able to use to get me ranked.

I understand the ins/outs of SEO-the title of the forum speaks in and of my question: SEO COMPANY INFORMATION REQUEST.

You spoke on invalid SEO companies with a lack of ethics who promise the sky/moon, I am looking to avoid these SEO companies by finding reputable companies people have used.

The combined total of all marketing venues is not comparable to what you recieve from hits on your site. Ive started business before-I know the deal.

I am looking for 2 things from this thread.

(1) Referenced SEO coordinators
(2) Tips on things I can do myself

#2 is essentially a moot point as Ive been at the information pertinent to the subject for 100+ hours and am 100% confident that this is best handled by a professional.

thanks

Don't really know much about SEO, but I've been very fortunate my name usually comes up several times on the first page of results. My market area is relatively small though. Isn't age of the site one of the biggest factors. If so isn't it very hard to get a new site to the top

The way to beat that from my understanding is to purchase a URL that has a history and add it to your site. These can be pricey as they are known as " premium domain name"

I looked into purchasing a URL that was registered in 2009-its value was 20x the cost of a normal URL. Keyword URLs are also expensive.

Ive got to do more search on just how valueable a keyword url without hypens-dots-misare

It isnt luck your geo is just smaller your website has (3) first page keywords : presssure washing mobil , low pressure cleaning, low pressure washing, you also on page 2 for a few.

Your doing something to rank high its just a serious detective venture to see what that is.

Hi Vick,

You can check out my company also MarathonSEO been in the PW industry for 20 years, own companies in Portland that are on the first page. I know exactly what you are talking about because i have done it personally. You can check the WCR board also, my stuff is listed over there.

Thanks.

What keywords do you currently place for in Portland-I believe the best reference is your own website.

For those of you looking to also purchase SEO services Ive taken the following procedure.

(1) References
(2) How does the SEO companys own website rank
(3) What keywords are they placing for
(4) How competive are those keywords

The answers to these can be found with this keyword tool that gives you the number of search queries per month https://adwords.google.com/o/Target...000&ideaRequestType=KEYWORD_IDEAS#search.none

SEMRUSH is a great site to see your competition for keywords in your area, which keywords you rank well for and how the/your site performs. Those of us who would like to know why we arent performing well need to take an analysis of where we stand

Congratualtions on owning all the premium domain names for portland-your business must be fantastic. Its obvious that your company is older since no one today could possible afford to buy or even sometimes aquire URLs like yours. Just how important is a URL like yours for generating new leads?

Is it even possible to rank well without them? I know many people use hyphenated versions of the URLs you own. I dont know if that works. If I were to purchase domain names as yours today Id be looking at 5-7k.

It is good to check all of those things but that should not be your deciding factor. There are many very good SEO companies out there that could care less if their sites rank because that is not their method of marketing. Take my site for instance, why should I try to get that ranking in that niche if my customers come from other sources? I spend more time working on customer sites than I do my site because that is how I think that it should be. It is more important that I do more testing to come up with different methods for ranking sites. As an example, we have recently come up with our own private network of sites with a PR of 1-4 in order to facilitate the ability to create backlinks for the customers that can not be shut down because someone else owns them. 90% of my link building is done on private networks with a few public sites in there too.

Adwords is notoriously inaccurate, belive me I work with it a lot. The other thing is that you only get keywords for which ads are purchased. Say if someone purchases an ad for Pressure Washing Seattle then you will get the number of searches for that keyword phrase but if no one purchases ads for Power Washing Seattle, you may miss out on more potential customers because that will not be reported in adwords. Another item is that a lot of those searches are by you or your competitors. If you check once a day, that is 30 searches a month. How many competitors do you have in the area and add those to that number.

Lastly, those companies that rank well are more than likely servicing Fortune 500 companies and you will either not be able to afford them, they will not give you the time of day or they are so large the customer service will suffer.

References are your best indicator of the kind of work that a company does for you. Hell most of you work on references too.

It seems like you know SEO but there is a choice to make because you have 3 responsibilities

1. Running your business
2. SEO
3. Family

There is not enough time in the day to do all three correctly. If you attempt to do all three then something is going to suffer. Experience talking once again on this one.

I got a website 10 years after I started my business. Relying on the internet to make your business grow is a way to go out of business quickly. This Vic guy is asking a lot of questions for someone who want even fill out a signature.

I personally know several people here that built their business by their web site alone. This is what has brought them the highest ROI and they have stopped all other print advertising.

I don't do print advertising and took the letters and signs off of the trucks. Best way to build a business is word of mouth and face to face. Word of mouth has got me hundreds of thousands of dollars work of work in states 500 miles away from me. I am just not a big fan of internet advertising. Take here for example. There are lots of guys on these boards that have nice looking websites and sound very professional. Now guess how many are out there with a single trailer and a 5.5 gpm machine washhing a few houses a day. Not knocking them, but they are not what their websites represent. I have had some of them meet me in various states on my route. Great websites and shown up with John Deere machines and/or general pumps. Bottom line. I believe that there are a lot of people like me that see thru slick sites and advertising. If you were getting ready to drop some money to have some work done, would you look on the web or check with people you know that could offer a recomendation?

I would say both William. Used to be people went to the phone book to find Companies, now it's the internet. Word of mouth, now it's facebook.

I see what you're saying William, and agree to a point.....But, your business structure is quite different from most guys. You have been at this for a while and have a solid reputation with your customers. Guys that are 1 man shows or only have a couple of employees don't have the advantages you have so they must use other means of attracting customers & retaining customers.
