G'day from Michigan

G’day PWI Community,

My Name is Cullen Adams, the creator of the website www.PressureWashing.net which is scheduled to launch in April 2012.
I’m from Sydney Australia, but for the last couple of years have been based in Michigan.

I have been involved in the pressure cleaning industry (as they more commonly refer to it in Australia) since 1999. I had a business which employed 4 technicians and utilized many sub-contractors for all sorts of services including pressure cleaning, sealing, abrasive blasting, concrete grinding, concrete polishing, shot blasting, epoxy coatings, line marking, joint sealing, sweeping and scrubbing.

My company had contracts with many municipal councils throughout Sydney and New South Wales, including Rail Corp, Many Private Schools and Major Shopping Malls. We cleaned many landmarks in Sydney such as the Sydney Exhibition Center, Sydney Entertainment Center, and Parramatta Central Business District (the second largest in the Sydney Metro area after Sydney City). We restored many heritage listed buildings including The Sydney Observatory, Fire Station No. 1 Sydney, The Land Titles Office Sydney and Vaucluse House. We were approached to act as consultants to the Indonesian Government when they undertook concrete cleaning & graffiti removal in Jakarta.

For the last five years I have been involved in internet marketing. I helped set up and co-owned www.PressureCleaning.com.au the most trafficked website in Australia for the pressure cleaning industry. The mission now is to create the most trafficked website for the pressure washing industry in North America and the world. The bar has been set high but I’m both excited and confident in achieving this goal.

As a business owner I know the challenges that you face. You are required to have either expert knowledge in your possession or collectively, meaning at your disposal, in many different functions of your business including (but not limited to) operations, management, administration, human resources, accounting, finance and the most important function marketing. Marketing is the lifeblood of your business. Without being able to obtain customers you are out of business! Everything else is an expense.

I hope to make long lasting relationships with many of you over the coming years. I look forward to both learning from the PWI community and contributing.

Thank you.

Welcome to the site.

Just curious, with your experience, why didn't you start a pressure cleaning business here?

Thanks Chris. The main reasons are that I believe that the market in Michigan is not nearly as strong as what I am used to in Sydney. Here in Michigan it seems to be seasonal and there is not much of a construction market here, which I found much of my work to stem from in Sydney. Plus my passion is now in internet marketing. I am more excited and feel I can make more of a mark within the industry with this website about to launch.
