Cleaning High Windows With Pressure Washer

Our hospital and University in Tuscaloosa show evidence (water and mineral spotting) of being cleaned with a pressure washer. As a window cleaner I was trained to never clean glass in this manner. I believe it is being done for cost savings. Is anyone having success cleaning windows in this manner? If yes, How?

We had done some windows with our washer several years back but ran source water thru DI resin bed into out tank then pumped out thru HP line. I was told by several people that continued pumping of DI thru pubs can reck havoc on seals, brass etc so we haven't done that since. I have read on some post that said DI doesn't hurt the pump tho so the jury is still out on that as far as Im concerned. We do clean some windows with WFP and di and have good results but we don't put it thru the HP pump. We don't do insides so we have run into problems getting some jobs as they want inside as well. We really like to have a large quantity of panes to do a job tho.

For a quality job you need to use some sort of brush and purified water to agitate the glass surface.

I wrote this free manual, you might find it interesting it explains the whole process:

Let me know if I can help.

You really need to use a WFP to clean the windows. As was mentioned the glass needs to be agitated with a brush to loosen up the dirt. Shooting a window with sufficient power would be a really bad idea. You can blow seals and crack glass and it really is going to be a crappy job too boot. Spend a grand or there abouts and you can do it the right way for two and three story buildings. Check out the WCR page they have great customer service and all the equipment to do it the right way.

Dont waste your time pw windows with any soap the soap will just stick to the dirt and leaving more spots, done that. Jared is right needs to be agitated with a brush and soap then Squeeze off if you dont have a di system if its to high bring in a lift.

A water fed pole can be fairly inexpensive to begin with. Pure water will give you the longest lasting clean of any method since there is no residue.
