What kind of computer are you using?

I am using my 2nd Dell.Got my first one about 3 years ago. Both of them have been junk.My next computer will be a Apple MacBook.

Gott an HP right now. Works great for me. Also have a dell. Want a mac, and Ipad...shh dont tell Tony

Custom build by my local computer shop with no bloatware

5 Dells here.... no problems. Oldest is 5 years, newest is 1 year. We rotate out the oldest every year.

I have a good friend that gets used computers and adds more memory to them, bigger hard drives and removes tons of junk that is not needed.

I had my Toshiba large screen laptop crash last year along with my HP Desktop. He got me a used Dell laptop for $150 and a used Dell desktop for $50 and both are faster than my computers that crashed both with programs and the internet.

If you know someone that can tear computers apart and fix them, they can probably get you a good deal. There is very little that the newer computers can do that the older computers cannot do, maybe they can run faster or play games better but for business, surfing the web and other things, I am happy with these used computers and am ready to get another laptop to have as a spare in case any computers crash in the future so I am not without a computer like when the 2 computers crashed the same week.

I actually thought about just having the computer I have beefed up, but it has little things wrong with it like keys not working every now and then. It would be my luck to spend more money on it and something unrelated give out.

The set up that my relative has suggested will have

A lap top with 4 gig ram, 2.4 ghz processor. He told me this is middle of the road. I've got to do my research because I want a computer that will run 5 internet explorers, word, photoshop and quickbooks at the same time....

A docking port to connect the computer to a regular key board and two 22 inch monitors while at my desk.

The keyboard and monitors.

His thinking is that the docking port and monitors will greatly improve efficiency which is as important as the power of the computer. He also said that Id be better off and save money with a desktop, but I want the ability to take my computer with me wherever I go.

I havent given this much thought, but I imagine I could buy a desktop, clean up the computer I have and use logmein to access the desktop from the road.

Im just thinking out loud now...

My used Dell has 3 of the usb ports, 1 external monitor port, dvd drive, Ethernet jack, headphone jack, microphone jack, phone memory card reader and a built-in webcam.

There are a lot of options out there and with the prices of computer parts new or used available all over the place, that is why I did not buy new this time.

My friend gave me a 6 month warranty on the whole desktop and laptop so if anything goes bad, he will replace it free.

He tears computers apart and sells the parts online and on ebay because most used computers are worth more as parts than the whole computer. You can change out the screen, keyboard, hard drive, motherboard, dvd drive, etc.....You just have to find the right guy that can do this for you and who really knows what he is doing.
