Too Hot

adjust fuel pressure to 100 psi MINIMUM.
diesel fuel won't burn properly below that.
..and readjust the air bands.
if temp doesn't go as low as you need.. reduce burner nozzle size.

You could sell it to a parking garage cleaner...

Thermostat if you still want the 270 degree without re-adjusting fuel and air
Hey Jerry, what about the difference in efficiency. Would tony use less fuel in a day with the correct size fuel nozzle for the temp he wants vs. leaving a bigger nozzle in and letting the thermostat kick it on and off?

Thanks a lot, Tony.
Now I have Kool &the Gang on endless repeat in my head.

"Gotta run for shelter, gotta ru-un for shade..."

a fluctuating burner is much less efficient..
too hot, then too cool, on the same fuel that would be "just right".
..and cycling the burner makes it more prone to failure.

I would put a lower thermostat in it. This will kick the burner off at lower temps, thus saving fuel if you have a fuel return line. What kind of burner do you have?

If you go too small on the fuel nozzle, you'll have to change the fan too. Usually 2.5 gph and up use a 6 1/4" fan. For smaller nozzles,a switch to a 5" fan may be in order.
