Last chance for freedom

Scott, maybe we need someone with a conviction or there own beliefs. Not that he will push them on us but that he actually has some. Has any president since Carter Had any? No I'm not a Carter Lover, he was horrible. But he was the only closest to a regular Joe we have had in 50 years. Peanut Farmer Lawyer... We now have Good actors who have been our greatest presidents, Reagan was , clinton was & so was Bush Jr. We needed Bush Sr to had beat Clinton. That lies the start of real issues.

Scott, It doesn't bother me that he is mormon. (BTW, you should tell his supporters to quit campaigning door to door on bicycles, no one is going to answer the door! lol)

I think his religion is the best thing he has going for him. My problem with him is he is just simply not enough.

We need a Josiah, not an Ishbosheth.

I Kings 23: [SUP]1[/SUP] Then the king called together all the elders of Judah and Jerusalem. [SUP]2[/SUP] He went up to the temple of the LORD with the people of Judah, the inhabitants of Jerusalem, the priests and the prophets—all the people from the least to the greatest. He read in their hearing all the words of the Book of the Covenant, which had been found in the temple of the LORD. [SUP]3[/SUP] The king stood by the pillar and renewed the covenant in the presence of the LORD—to follow the LORD and keep his commands, statutes and decrees with all his heart and all his soul, thus confirming the words of the covenant written in this book. Then all the people pledged themselves to the covenant.

.....

[SUP]24[/SUP] Furthermore, Josiah got rid of the mediums and spiritists, the household gods, the idols and all the other detestable things seen in Judah and Jerusalem. This he did to fulfill the requirements of the law written in the book that Hilkiah the priest had discovered in the temple of the LORD. [SUP]25[/SUP] Neither before nor after Josiah was there a king like him who turned to the LORD as he did—with all his heart and with all his soul and with all his strength, in accordance with all the Law of Moses.

Where is a leader like this today Scott?

So what do you propose the new presidnet do to correct the situation that we are in? Remember, it has to be constitutional, so as much as I would like the new pres. to toss them all, he can't. Keep in mind that Romney has never been a Washington politician, like so many, so he really does not have those ties. It does kind of make him unique. Even your beloved Ron Paul has more D.C. connections then Romney, if for no other reason then he was in the House of Representatives.
From all I have read and heard about Romney, and there are a few things I don't like, I do not think people realize how strong a leader he is.

This country needs a "regular Joe" type mentality but the reality of that is the "Regular Joe" very rarely becomes a state leaders no less national leaders. Buuuuuut just because they become successful doesn't meant that they lost that "regular Joe" hard working mentality. Example of that here in my state is Rep. Peter King House Chair of Homeland Security. I would vote for him in a heartbeat if he ran for a national office such as the President of the United States.

But he's not and he's smart enough to know that maybe that's not in the cards for him so us "Long Islanders" generally love the guy and are happy he stays here.

Mitt Romney's Religion should have no bearing on him becoming President but it will be brought up. Especially if any of the Supreme Court Justice positions open up. President will try to get people in there that have similar religious beliefs on certain topics such as abortion etc.

Since it's pretty Obvious Obama has failed this country and giving him four more years to sink us from a Recession into a full blown Depression he has to go. He failed so time for the new guy.. If George Bush Sr. Was bounced because the economy sucked then Obama should get trounced you would think because the economy and many other things really suck now.
Romney for president looks like a great opportunity to happen. What other choices do we really have anyway?? He deserves the chance since the other guy has shown to be a failure.

None of them can hold Pauls jock. ALL of them wipe their ass with our beloved constitution.

I love that story Tony, just the rediscovery and the re-commitment and the leadership.

No Disrespect here guys......The President does not have the ultimate power here.......Congress Does!!!!

This makes me laugh as much as the boycott wall street crowd........they need to boycott Congress, they're the ones to blame for this crap, they're the ones that make and enact the laws that rape, ripoff, and molest every American Taxpayer.

The President is just a "Figurehead" with limited power.

I wish, Guy. But every president now believes our military is his own private force, and starts wars on their own - holy crap! And why are they always submitting budgets to congress?? That makes no sense at all, it's not their job. They are all - president, congress, judiciary - operating outside of the law and the constitution they swore an oath to defend.

Tom, the Military is the only thing that keeps us from overthrowing the Government Bodies you mentioned. That's why they want to take our guns and why our Forefathers created the 2nd amendment. Our Military is also the only "Bargaining Chip" America has. America might not be the Industrial, Agricultural, etc. Giant it once was....But it has a Military that will kick any Countries Butt Six Ways From Sunday, but unfortunately can't protect our borders.

Congress has allowed the President the power to start wars, that way they are shielded when the crap rolls south, and if it doesn't....they take credit for it. Make no mistake Tom, power is where the moneys at and the moneys in Congress.

Guy, that was a great post brother. But I think you underestimate the power of an executive order. It is hard for a president to "fund" any pet projects, but it's not so hard to shut things down. Congress would have to scramble to get things back up and running again and hopefully there are enough followers in congress who might take the president's lead.

We need a president who doesn't give a flying crap about his "legacy". We need a president with conviction.

Unfortunately the electorate has no commitment. We, as a people are lazy, fat and happy.

Our festering disdain for God, as a nation, will be punished. I'm just sad that my kids will be reaping what our generation has sown.

Scott, whoever becomes president should shut down every unconstitutional facet of the federal government by executive order within the first 100 days. Period.

I can't help but agree with this.

Love to see that happen but none of the candidates would have the nuts to do that. It's the King Makers who really run this country the majority of the time anyway. The President is usually just a puppet. The puppet masters are the ones that should be brought out when things go bad... But good luck on nailing them down. They already made there dough at that point and have moved on. Ever wonder why this country is in such turmoil yet there are more billionaires here today by far then there ever was in the past...

Have you heard of Ron Paul?

Your right Guy, Congress is just as responsible - more - for allowing the president to *start* wars. By the way, the president is NOT the commander in chief - until called by congress. Ron Paul is almost by himself in voting against ALL the unconstitutional presidential led war making, simply noting that a congressional declaration is required. Also in one of the brilliant parts of the original system, the house controlls all the money period - they can literally shut down anything by simply putting a zero in the budget, another check and balance.
