Google's love affair with Authoritative web-sites continues.

Take a look at the link below of a search that I just did to see how one of the latest members is ranking (Orange County).
Results for the search term pressure washing orange county ca (3 positions on page 1)
This site is ranking incredibly well for a broad range of search terms and its less than 4 weeks old!

What I Do Would Cost You Way More With a Traditional SEO Company
I just had a member tell me that they have cancelled their SEO company who were charging them 3 times the amount of money of their monthly subscription, because my results in about a month were 100x better than the results that they had previously experienced in 3 months.
I am able to charge less for the services I charge because this is my website too. Im a vested partner. I want it to rank more than you do! If you in the unlikely scenario choose to drop out and cancel your subscription, my SEO efforts and building your rankings is not wasted, because I know I can get somebody else to fill that position. A traditional SEO company has to charge accordingly because if you cancel your service with them, then all of their efforts are gone and its time to start again for them. Plus they will probably be doing shady black hat / grey hat at best, link building and other equally ineffective techniques that cannot compete with creation of content rich webpages on an authoritative website, but that's a whole other chapter.

If the partnership dissolves....who ultimately owns the domain name and website content?
 
This service is only for pages on your domain, not on someone's own website, right? What Carlos mentioned is why I won't go with something like that. I don't like paying monthly for this kind of thing, and prefer to have control and ownership of my site and all of it's content.

I may be a bit quirky, but I also don't like companies that don't actually offer the services I do competing with me for top spots on google, but you're coming to our market, so there you'll be trying to snag our customers for your customers unless we pay you. That to me feels like extortion. Be first or we'll trample you for someone else!

Carlos, ownership of content is not the most important factor rather your rankings and your bottom line or ROI. You can control your content so the content can be yours if that is important. It really doesn't matter to me. The domain is yours whilst ever you pay the monthly subscription.
WoodDocJax, I have been involved in the Pressure Cleaning industry since 1998-1999. I am reaching veteran status at 33, somebody like Ron or perhaps even yourself may disagree with me on that one lol. Extortion? What I do is help my members or customers, not unlike all other businesses.

....at the end of the day ownership is indeed the most important. A contractor can have all the rankings he/she wants but if one day you decide to pull the plug......just saying!!

I'm sorry you feel that way. I respect and understand what you are saying but I totally disagree.

I know from 7 years experience Google loves authoritative sites so im doing SEO the best way I know how. I have no interest in doing SEO in a traditional sense. SEO is dead!

PressureWashing.net is ranking first page number 4 on Google for the search pressure washing and it will be number 1. That alone is opportunity for members and that is just scratching the surface.

In the end its your choice. You dont have to do anything. That's the beauty of life, we can all choose the path we take.

You can disagree all you want, but you're doing exactly what I'm saying. The way you come off is like a protection racket. If we don't sign up with you, you will be our competition, so we should consider it an "opportunity" (your words) to pay you monthly or have you as competition. You say everyone else is doing black and gray SEO and you're the good guy come to save us, but not if we don't pay you monthly. Any optimization you would do for us is gone to the next guy as soon as we stop paying.

Maybe I am trying to bust your chops, unlike Carlos, because as a business owner there is always somebody new coming along wanting a slice of the pie. The problem is how you offer it. You are pretty blatantly saying, "I'm a competitor but I won't be if you pay me every month". I get a dozen calls a week from guys in India saying the same thing. Sign up with us, or we'll rank pages high for your keywords and your competition will get them.

The site isn't really an "authoratitve" site either. It's just a generic looking link farm. It doesn't offer any real information. We don't have to do anything, except pay you so you won't be our competitor. Pfffft!

Sorry you fell that way Adam.
Links point back to members primary sites or internal pages so I don't think it qualifies as a link farm. Wikipedia would be a link farm by that definition.
 
In all honesty, what Cullen is doing is nothing different from all the other sites that charge for a listing, Merchant Circle etc. Yes on some of those you can get a free listing but you can also pay for a premium listing and you are still on there with all the other business owners. What he is offering is an exclusive listing where you have no other competition on the site and for that there should be a premium. It is nothing more than advertising, that is how you have to look at it. If you were to run a radio ad or tv commercial or newspaper ad, when you quit paying they quit displaying your ad.

All this web stuff is advertising, not a tangible product. It is just one more avenue for you to advertise with.
 
Right, but saying get on board before I enter your market is as sad as the places that are charging for premium listings. Either advertise with us, or we'll make ourselves your competition. It's extorting people, but most aren't intelligent enough to see it for what it is. I just happen to be one of the very, very few who pick up on these things, and part of an even smaller minority who have the guts to say it like it is.

The title gave me a differnet idea.

I know google loves authority sites and it helps to have links in your content that point to authority sites.
For exampe, lets says an article about a university or career that have a link pointing to harvard university, or a government site.
