Filtration to minimize water spots: maximize efficiency of, or eliminate De-I tanks

I just got a "thank you" call from a new customer..
He ordered our Sirocco 1 micron FilterBank (rated 40gpm) to PRE-filter water
running into his 2ea. 330gl black holding tanks with 1" float valves,
as water source for the dual-wand BullDog Pro Pressure Washer we supplied him.
Apparently, he didn't need to use the De-I bottles he was planning on adding in-line..
The water cleaned up enough to "pass inspection" of the solar panels he was cleaning..
No "noticeable" water spots was the goal, and he said he achieved it,
and with MUCH lower cost than expected..
My point, is a question..
Does anyone else use 1 micron or less final filtration, or pre-filtration for De-I,
to maximize the efficiency of, or eliminate need for De-I tanks ??
How close to NO water-spots do you get ??

Interesting Jerry did that filter just pull out the minerals because they are larger than 1 micron? Was that a single element or did he add the DE to it to get it down to 1 micron?

I would love to know the answer to this, as well.

blue filters, plumbed in parallel, rated 1 micron

A 4 pack of our blue filters, plumbed in parallel (for several reasons),
with the high-load 4.5" x 1 micron filter elements
with 1.5" CamLock couplers (of course).. $699.
.. in a Sirocco Red multi-mountable frame,
with mounting hardware.

a sprinkling with DE could increase it's flow-characteristics under load..
like having an outer layer (pre-filter)

So this whole setup is designed to pre-filter water before entering the tank? The customer who used it and thanked you for it - what type of washing does he do?

He cleans solar panels.

Pre-filtering before De-I tanks has always been an easy way to double or triple the life of the De-I set.
Many a car dealership has used water-softeners as pre-filter.. doubling the spot-free,
and ultimately.. an RO system is best if you're into "hauling cheap water".
.. but How far can you go in "simple-step" filtration to get "acceptable results.. on the customer's water ?? ..
We need the feedback of multiple users, on multiple jobsites
