I have been working this house off and on for like a month now. rain just keeps on killing me.I finished three sides and have 3/4 of the front to do. this was a complete strip and stain. so far I have used 13 gallons and need about 3 more to finish. the gentleman that owns the house is a great guy and loves the work

dang, THREE log homes at once? man you got ot going on. good luck getting them done. it was cold here this morning on the mountain. snow will be here soon enough.
 
Looks good Steven.. Are you putting 1 or 2 coats?

The dark area around the window on the bottom right of the house. Is that the tannin in the wood that's making it dark and uneven ?
 
What stain are you using? Thats a really good coverage rate if you only need 16 gallons

I am putting on two coats. It' Sikkens and i am not to happy about using that product because Its real thick. The house is twelve years old and the wood is still in great shape. these cedar boards have some real tight grain so it take a few hours to soak in before you can hit it again. I see what you are saying about the window area. Trust me this looks good standing right in front of it it. maybe its the pic? man you will have me looking at it in the a.m.though LOL.

Charlie, this is going on by hand so there really isnt any waste

We usually use a product called Boodge. Oil base and easy to work with. Non-film forming. We tape all windows and spray it on. Let me know if you want more info.

Boodge huh interesting name...What kind of oil is it?
 
The home owner didnt want to hear anything about spraying, saying that i couldnt get it in good enough. I made it worth my while to apply by hand. The funny thing is today when I am almost done he asks about how it would have went on by spraying it and I told him thats how its done in the real world. he laughed and said " just not in Don's world though ".
