UAMCC convention-thoughts and idea's

Time heals all wounds unless your the type of person that never lets time heal anything. Passion can cause people who care to maybe care to much. Friends became frienenemies(heard this word for the first time recently).

Just a thought that I'm throwing on the table. I never had a discussion about this with anyone. I did have many discussions with people in the past of how well we put together the UAMCC Convention in 2009. The approval rate there was over 95%. Pretty much everyone I ever spoke to that went to that Convention really enjoyed it.

The thought occurred to me since I haven't been on the UAMCC bb in months is "What is the UAMCC considering to do for a convention in the near future?"

I think even though we bickered some, Carlos,Jeff L,Rob Huffman, Don Phelps and myself did a pretty good job with that Convention. Whenever I talk to Jake Clark, Tom Vogle, and many others they all in agreement that Convention was awesome.

I know where I stand with some of the UAMCC guys now in charge but those things never affect me if I think I can help move something forward. I can sit with a "Frienenemy" or a friend anywhere anytime if it can mean we could move something positive forward.

The PWNA already has there Convention Committee and there Convention set in stone for next year in Orlando again. Same hotel which was a nice place + 2hr long every day free cocktail hours. Myself and Charlie Arnold gave a way an award at one of those. It's fun to learn at these Conventions and network as well but it's also fun....to have Fun at them to.

Don't know where I'm going with this yet because on one breath I feel like seeing if the UAMCC needs anyone with experience with Convention committee work needs any help in that Dep't. The other breath it's easier to sit back and see what these org's do and decide if I should go to their Convention. That's the easier choice but I also know from experience it's rewarding to make Things happened and you can't put a price on that experience.

Besides UAMCC having representation at Roundtables--what are there plans for a Convention or is that not being considered at this time?

Stick with the PWNA John.

Please.
Hey Tony what time is our convention Committee call?? What firearm do you suggest I bring? Am I still the enemy since I retired from my other job? Just kidding man. Happy Holidays.

You are not my enemy John. Your ideals and character judgements match those of the PWNA much closer than those of the UAMCC.

You should be on the PWNA BOD.

It's funny you said that Tony. I did put my name out there and I had a few guys support me to run for the PWNA board again. As it turns out I was never nominated. I could give you the names of the guys that emailed me and also called to wish me luck and they support me and you know or heard of them. No one followed up including myself to see if some one nominated me. At the Convention I was surprised to find out I was never nominated. Like an oversight.

Just last week one of these guys called to talk shop and this came up. He said he would make some calls to see what can be done.. I'm not Hurt by it.. It's just the way these things go sometimes. I can't stand preferential treatment so I declined this guys offer to talk to the BOD's.

Also I swapped calls with Ron M. Last week to talk shop and I did tell him there is a different philosophical point of view myself and one other has concerning the PWNA. I believe they should be much more aggressive in a few areas (and of course I have support on that) but he doesn't. The PWNA makes money now. They no longer operate in the red. So I can see why this guy thinks the way he does. He's also far from stupid.

The problem I'm having is what this guy believes for the PWNA is exactly what I believe in my business. Not to take to much of a risk and keep most things status quo because my business is profitable enough, that keeps us busy enough so I would only want to make a few more$$ without hiring maybe more then one more full timer. This is a singular business but an organization is muti-businesses and to be content there is where the philosophical difference comes in between him and myself.

I don't have any animosity towards him. I didn't walk in his shoes but I know what he went thru because I follow this stuff so I respect his opinion but I don't have the same or close to the same opinions as he does. I have idea's. I also follow them thru at times and I've done alot for the PWNA even as recently during Hurricane Sandy that was about to hit my area.

I built something for them out of nowhere but it took up at least 30-40 hrs to do this. Once again it's causing a division because it's aggressive. Guys that seen it like it. They even had some Exec. PWNA BODs now attached to my emails. I have the sides split. I explained it all in detail and how it works....it's a winner but it floats in space. Its a huge risk for them but of course it will crash me right back into the one where our philosophies don't jell because there on different sides of the universe.

I could ride this out since I even spent some coin on this that was all to be donated anyway. I also no longer want to debate people continuously if they can't see this bone I'm throwing.

I can go on as you know but I'll end this with these few thoughts:

I'm very far from arrogant. I have always been more of a giver as you found out. If I have something it's yours. When times are good I like to share that with others but even though I do like the PWNA and most of the guys and gals especially Jackie the executive director I'm human and I get frustrated. To many battles my friend and some more down the line.. But I am battle worn.

When you see me start a thread like this one if you haven't figured it out over the years or even cared to.. This thread out of nowhere is the tip off that I'm frustrated about something so I search outwards to see what else is happening that I might get enjoyment and satisfaction of being a part of that.. That's all this really is.

So don't take it to heart. I will not rain on your parade as the new UAMCC moderator or is it BOD now.

Good luck with whatever is going on with the UAMCC and if there's a Convention down the road it may be something I can be very interested in attending.

Have fun
