In the past I have wined, screamed, pulled my hair and even ground my teeth... Had a call on new construction, to just clean the decks... 12 decks in total, well 8 really the other 4 had concreat bottoms with rails... decks were 9 by 18 with 18 running foot of rails, no steps... you will have to go through condos,3 stories up, 6 on the back 6 on the front...so what we have is 8 decks at 9 by 18 and 18 running foot of rails, and four with 9 by 18 concreat bottoms and 18 running foot of rail...

What would you guys bill the job at? I will post my bid after I get some replys, so I dont get laughed at my bid...

thanks,

Matt

You might never please these people........its amazing how cheap they are looking for sometimes. These sound like some aggrevation...........3 stories up, hanging over the rail to get it clean...........walking thru houses, passing hoses up........if possible? You're not planning on bringing the pw hose right thru the house, right?

I'd bid these on a time and materials basis. I'm not sure how much..........I have bids of my own to work on right now......

Thanks Mike for replying,

I already put bid in and to me I feel that i have put my self in a class of being cheap labor... Chems cost money and I want to do a good job. But being in the last of cold water season you have to bid close dollars...I am just trying to figure out if there is a market out there with decks and as always I am not asking for any thing more then someone is willing to give up!

if it were me

one guy on the ground, one goes up to the deck.
Rope and clip. Drop it down hoist up pump up sprayer and wand. Tie off the pressure line to the railing[i use an old long sleeved sweatshirt]
spray your chem[oxalic acid and/or precarb bleach]
Use 3 wands 1 reg. 1 short 1 with a flexi bend

Will it seemed no one wanted to play the game with me so I will tell you how much I bid the job....

675.00 or 56.25 apiece... Seems low, But have not for sure got the job...

Yes Ron P, you are right on how to the job... The only diff, Is I will carry some stuff in water tight bags, shoes and chuck of carpet and will go through apartments in my stockings... I am hoping to get two decks done a hour or 1 hour 15 min... after intial set-up...

Now all you washers can laugh at me!!!!

Seems pretty low, but you wont really know that till its all said and done..............good luck.

Thanks Mike I will need the luck to pull my time...I have done work in the past for theses builders, they have a whole slue of work going on over there and I just stop getting phone calls one day so i am assuming they had found some one cheaper... but that guy had probely ran out of hose for this job.LOL

you can only be cheap for so long before it bites you... I will post final prices and time to see how I made out... It will be interesting to see how close I can cut it to make a small profit...

Matt

2 an hour?

it would take me that long to take my shoes off and on and walk up and down 3 story's. lol
Wait till your done and the builder say's "i wanted the undersides done also"
All wood decks 3 story's up? What a maint. nightmear. Sounds to me like they should have used Trex, or did they?

No ron it is wood, But all the decks have not been that bad in the past... Lets see what builder did these.... I have numbers in my head but we dont know numbers until its done... I am going to laugh if I dont get the job... That is just telling me that there is no money here on decks...
