Las Vegas Garage Cleaning Event

What can you learn from such an event?

I'm sure, unless the event is entirely composed of a sales pitch, there will be PLENTY to learn at the event. Jim has been cleaning garages for a long time and he knows a lot of the ins and outs of cleaning garages. If his videos are any indication, it looks like he does a good job cleaning them too!

There are a lot of things to be aware of when bidding and cleaning a garage. If nothing else it would probably be worth the cost of admission just to learn all the little things you need to look for and be careful about.

Apparently Jim is going to reveal his soap. That will be good information too. You will probably kick yourself for not using it before once you find out what it is, but it is worth something just to find out. I've known since 2009 when I saw it at his house. It works pretty good, but I think for it to work really well it needs to be applied the way Jim uses it. And that information is worth something too.

I would suggest everyone who might be going to clean garages to attend this event. There is sure to be plenty of good information and the price is right and very fair.

If you go home with a lot of new knowledge and a little fire under your butt it will be well worth it.

History has shown that there are a few things you might need to be careful about "soaking in". First, you are not going to get 24 or 30 cents per foot. On the rare occasions where Jim gets this you need to realize that he has many years of experience working in a highly restricted area filled with people who are not the brightest bulbs. It is the area where you have to have a tool to take a magazine out of your rifle in your own home, but if you want to walk naked on the street that's ok. Jim has a unique market.

BUT, even if you get 5 cents a foot you can make great money cleaning garages if you know what you are doing. I believe Jim has the skills to show you how to clean a garages and do a good job of it. The event will probably be worth your time and money.

You also probably won't be reaching the temperatures Jim reaches. I don't know how much effect that has on the cleaning, but he says it is crucial. So even if you follow all his other instructions, according to him, you probably won't get the exact same end product.

The other thing you need to be careful about is listening to the "predictions" of what is going to happen with the EPA. You might be tempted to come out of the meeting thinking that your ticket to success is to browbeat your competitors by turning them in or going to your local EPA and trying to get them to be more strict. Once again History has shown us that contractors who do this eventually simply go out of business (or as Phil mentioned, just "go away".) Do a little research. It happens over and over again.

Also you need to be wary of over investing in equipment that you haven't even sold accounts for yet. It's easy to get into the hype and think that as soon as your foot hits the ground back home there are millions of dollars waiting for you. If that was the case the garage event host from last year and a speaker at the event this year, Jim Cooney, who has been working closely with Jim for a few years now wouldn't have his business up for sale and it wouldn't be showing profits of less than $20 per hour on the sale documents. It just doesn't happen like it is portrayed. Things take a lot of time.

On the other hand, if you already have garage accounts, or if you can afford to take a loss if you stick your neck out and buy equipment that might rarely if ever get used, then by all means buy it!!! Reclaim equipment is great and it is needed in many different situations including most garage cleaning. We have reclaim equipment that we use quite a bit. It allows us to do jobs that we would have otherwise turned down. But here's a reality check, it gets the jobs, but each job isn't like winning the lottery. We still have to provide competitive pricing or we don't get the work. All that hype about "elite" contractor is garbage.

An "elite contractor" is one who provides a needed service at a fair price and provides for his family and the families of his employees, if he has any.

If you keep all those things in mind, and keep your mind open for some new ideas, techniques, equipment uses and even sales techniques this could be an event well worth going to.

Contrary to what is being said, I just want to make it clear that I am not against any event Jim wants to put on in Las Vegas.

I am against his going to my regulators here and trying to change the great BMP's we already have. But I've had months to prepare the regulators for his onslaught. Jim and Jim reported that they met with regulators last year in Phoenix. Because of that I've been working with ours here showing them some of the ridiculous things Jim and Robert have been posting on the boards and they are fully ready for anything they plan to bring. So I'm no longer worried about that at all.

No, I'm not against it at all, as a matter of fact I'd love to attend. I would hope that Jim would extend me the same courtesy I did him. No, I'm not asking him to share his hotel room with me, but it would be nice if he charged me the same I charged him for my event ($0) and my coil cleaning class he attended for two days ($350 - he paid $0). And a meal would be nice since he ate at our house and I treated him, and all the coil class attendees, to a steakhouse during the coil cleaning class.

Or, as an alternative he could extend that courtesy to my son Chris, who likely will eventually clean a garage one day.

If you can make it to this event I think it will be worth it.

Look for the finalized flyer this week. This is going to be a good event if your interested in garage cleaning and/or are an equipment buff who wants to see what powerful equipment can really do.

Learn from some of the garage cleaners and hear what exactly they have to deal with such as sludge issues, water issues, runoff issues, garages that are kept open and garages that are closed during your cleaning process amongst other things.

This will be an event that gives you some "Experience" as well because your going to work the machines.

We all know in business you want to learn from some of the best and brightest who specialize in what they do and in this case it's Jim Gamble who does nothing but garages and makes a very good living at it as well.
