Another dumb move...

I got a call from a company in Texas representing Remax realty trying to get me to pay them $449 for the privilege of being the vendor of choice in my area. They said it would allow me to lock out my competition and be the exclusive contractor for over 20 realtors.
I have more than a few issues with this. The biggest one stems from something the telemarketer said - he said people need to trust the contractors they let in their homes. I was floored! So if I pay you $449 I'm suddenly more trustworthy than anyone else in my area?! I also don't like the idea that the corporate guys at Remax now seem to want to make a dime off the backs of the contractors in the area. It's just bad business and I will be sending an email to the Remax offices in my area.
Anyone else get this call?

I got some of those calls 3 or 4 years ago.

I am not impressed with their tactics and their attitude that you will be their "guy" and the only contractor of your type in their book that they give out to home buyers and sellers.

I decided to not get into the books each time they called.

Watch out for the golf books that are sent to the golfers that are members of country clubs, almost the same thing where you are the only of your type of contractor that will be in the book........for a price.

Oh and Remax has very little to do with. This company compiles the book and then "supplies" the book to realtors in hopes they will hand them out. It's IMO a scam

I get those every other week.

It is funny how they try to act like they are here in town but don't have a clue when you ask them questions and what is even funnier is when they ask you to support your school when it is not even close to where you live and then try the cheezy guilt trip on you if you don't give them money.

I like the ones that call you from 1800 miles away representing your local high school wanting you to be on the area schedule as a sponsor. CLASSIC!

Oh Yeah, I had one accuse me of not wanting to support the children, I told him, well we don't clean parking garages so there.

I seem to get these calls daily! They will leave this voicemail : "I am a project manager with Remax and we are looking for a pressure washing company for a project we are working on" - the first time you get this call you think it could be a good call - the thousanth time you get this call you want to reach through the phone and slap the person on the other end!

I get those calls daily too I usually press them a bit and make them tell me who they really are then ask to speak with their manager. This is usually when they hang up.
