Pete, Congratulations on retirement

A new hot water unt...

Technically was the first , you Scott were second on this one but first one raffled. Pete was the first to commit to give away.

Thanks to both of you for being generous to our industry.

Congrats Pete.

I just ordered from them and happy as hell with the the power house and other products I got. Their site has been down for some reason and I'm trying to order more stuff. Anyway, he spent a lot of time with me at the NJ roundtable and as a newbie in the biz, every second was a learning experience for me thanks to him. If I don't kill any plant life my first year, I owe it to him. Below is the email I sent to him after getting a confirmation receipt of my order

"Wanted to say thanks again for a whole lot of insight and tips with the industry, I told you you'd be seeing my credit card in your system. Hopfefully, I'll be ordering a a roofster this season, my market is target rich with ugly roofs."

Regards,
Danny

Thanks to all of you.

There have been many kind comments posted here and on other boards in response to the unofficial announcement that I have retired. It is true that I sold the Sun Brite Supply operation in Georgia to a company named Eurobella with the intent of staying on for a while and helping the new owners get their feet wet in the industry.

The new owners, Yafei Zheng and Dilesh Patel, are nice people and good businessmen. As is often the case, the new owners are shaping the company as their own. We did not always see eye to eye on every issue, as is often the case in a transition like this. As their manager, Mike Rush, assumed more responsibility, I found myself with less and less to do for Sun Brite. Rather than continue with no control and little influence in the company, I felt it was time for me to fade away.

I thought I could do that quietly; that few would notice. Obviously that was not the case. To all of you who have expressed so nicely your thoughts about both my company and me, I thank you humbly. If there is anything I would want said, it would be that I put information into the hands of the people who needed it most.

To the customers of the Maryland Sun Brite store, that store has not changed hands. Linda continues to do what she has always done – take care of her customers. I went to the store for a visit last week and she immediately pulled me into a conversation with a contractor where we debated one cleaner over another. Like the good old days…

I have been asked to continue speaking and educating by several groups. For 15 years I always believed that was the way I could contribute the most, and I would like to stay involved in that way. Henry Bockman of Contractors Foundation and I shook hands and agreed on a teaching schedule for the rest of this year and on putting together a few new courses for them.

So, in the end, my role will be a lot different but I am not going to venture too far away from my roots. I will try to be there for those who want a little help.

Outside of that I have been keeping pretty busy. I hope to catch up on years of missed fishing time as soon as I am done with my 'Honey Do' list. There seems to always be something more around here to do.

I thank all of you once again for your kindness. In particular, I want to thank Ron, who never stopped caring about the industry and pushed me to be more active almost 100 years ago. To the people who posted here and elsewhere, you brightened my world in ways you don't realize. It has been my privilege to meet and work with so many really good people in this industry.
