Ad words keywords based on geographical area.

I've been using ad words for a few years with my current business. No complaints, but that business is strictly Web so I've never had to worry about a defined geographical area. My keywords are part numbers, years and models with a few others thrown in.

So, I'm almost done with my website for Simply Clean Power wash and it will be time to set up it's own ad words campaign. In setting up my keywords should I include every zip code, city name, city name with state and every other conceivable combination? I'll also be using Google Local in conjunction. I've toyed with local, but I'm lucky if I pull a local sale every two months only because I have such a scattered customer base. I'm looking forward to see how that part works out for me.

Adwords to dominate your local area? Why?????

GP? My sister lives over by the country club, right down the street from that old candy store.

Nothing to do with any sort of domination, just thoroughly covering my local area. I'm talking about setting up keywords where my service area would be completely covered in a google search (Paid Search/AdWords) if somebody were looking for any of the services that I offer. Essentially, I want my AdWords ads to pop up for the surrounding 25 mile radius and nothing more.

I just logged into AdWords and was toying with one of my old, paused campaigns and found that I can target a specific radius, which is great. BUT, the only problem with that is not everybody is using a local ISP or showing up as local as far as their IP address goes. If I were to get on my phone right now, go to my current site and then check my StatCounter or Google Analytics logs my IP would show up as coming from Toledo, Oh. So, I figure I'll have to set the radius and also use zip codes and city names as keywords in AdWords. Not a huge deal, just some time involved.

I've been using AdWords for my current Volvo ABS website for a few years with an excellent ROI. I just have to change my mindset in regards to AdWords from nationally to locally.

My point was that you shouldnt need adwords to create a strong online presence in your marketplace. Im assuming there are not too many competitors in your service area, therefore you should not be thinking about relying on Adwords to make your presence felt, when its proven consumers prefer unpaid/organic listings. if you need some help, let me know thats what i do.

Im in Sydney, Australia now actually but i dont know if you can change your location on here. Looking forward to getting back to Mi in Aug.
