Mr Longarm 22 foot pole at Home Depot

Yes, have. Gone thru a couple of them. Its the only 3 section pole out there and only home depot has it. Its the only one long enough to get to two story gutters. Its a good pole except for the plastic twist lock section locks..... They are plastic, and thus dont seem to last long. Not replaceable, so, need new pole. People like them i guess because i had one stolen off the truck while i was in home depot.....

I have used those for over 9 years and they work good.

I agree with the dirt in the threads issue, it is a pita.

I would like to get the pin lock type next time if I can find them locally.

They had the Ettore aluminum poles at Home Depot a while back, 16' was like $25.00 and it was like the kind you posted, no collars, you just twist the poles to tighten or loosen them to extend or retract. I have been using them for about 6 or 7 years now not any problems.

we've gone through 3 of those this season. they can tend to snap in half at the worst times. that said, for 40 bucks at menards i think i'd buy them again.

Those are fine as long as you don't put too much pressure on them. Professional painter's poles cost twice as much. We use them with the Roof Rake and clear pine straw from roof valleys. The extension part of the pole is lightweight aluminum, so we occasionally have to tape a weight to the end to give the rake tines some leverage.

Lowe's has decent aluminum 16's in the Cleaning department. Those are considerably cheaper than painter's poles, as well.

If you are snapping long poles, try to tape a broom handle or any type of stiff length to the extension pole. Make sure it is spaced evenly between the housing and the extension. I've seen guys attach all manner of tools to the ends of ext poles.

For $45 you cant beat Mr Longarm. And it's always at Home Depot if you need on in a pinch. You can order the plastic red ferrels right from Mr Longarm customer service. They will give you the first couple for free then it's like $1.00 each if you want more. I order like 20 and keep 2 spares on each truck. I have a Mr. Long arm cemetery in case we need spare parts. Go buy an expensive pole then you'll complain when the guys break it.

If any of you guys foresee ever needing to clean windows with your pole, I feel that Ettore or Unger would be the way to go. They probably are more expensive, but quite durable under normal and slightly rough usage. I've used my 24' and 27' Ettore poles many times to brush gutters. There is flex, but still control of movement.
