A new tool / phone app for keeping an eye on your equipment etc.

Here is a new product called TILE you may have seen or not but it seems promising. Put one on your rigs, machines etc.. just food for thought.

    This looks amazing!

This would be nice if it was working with all smart phones.

Hopefully this will work so that stolen things can be found quickly and put the crooks in prison.

    Thanks for sharing this.

For the 2nd time in a few months someone cut the motorcycle straps on a water pump and generator I have holding them in place on my truck a few nights ago right in my driveway. They obviously didn't see the thick chain and padlock I have on them going to the propane tank. I finally just pulled them off the truck and put them in the garage for now. I'm not the only one in my neighborhood though, the cops have stepped up patrols lately at night which is good.

I was actually thinking about running another switch and a wire under my truck going from the transformer of the machine to the water pump and generator. When I park the truck at night just throw on the switch. The second anyone puts their hand on the water pump or generator then they would be doing a happy dance. I just don't know if it would burn out the transformer though on the machine or not.

But the way I understand the video, Vince, is that 150 foot radius includes anyone on the Tile network. A total stranger could walk by your machine a hundred miles away, and you get notified as to it's whereabouts.

Where can you mount them to not get noticed or damaged? Are they weatherproof?

I was thinking the same thing, mount it to the machines, trailer, trucks, surface cleaners, just about anything that is worth a few hundred dollars or more.

I wonder if vibration will affect them, like if you duct tape one on top of a surface cleaner so it is not too obvious or on a pressure washer, I am thinking that the vibration might break it over time.

    I really like this idea.

Here is a little more about the this product : If you google search,,,, " tile gps app " there is more tech articles relating to this.

    http://gpstrackerapp.net/the-tile-app-gps-tracker/
"The Tile people are using a concept for marketing and financing called Crowdsourcing. They started out looking for commitments totaling $20,000.
Last I checked they were just shy of $2,500,000 with around 46,00 backers (buyers)! $2.5 mm, not bad when your original goal was $20k."

I wanna know what the battery life is on these things? If they only activate and come on when searching for them, that would give them enough juice, but gotta keep them away from the elements. Sweet idea, I think it will develop well in the next couple years. Sign me up!

That might land you in front of a judge. You know these days criminals have more rights that we do. Sad, but true.

Not sure about damage, but according to their FAQs it is waterproof. http://www.thetileapp.com/2?utm_expi...jq%26s%3D1#faq
