Finally got my equipment!

Well yesterday was the big day, finally got our first pressure washing skid. I will say it is one good looking beast! Little intimidating for a newbie to pressure washing, but we will figure it out.

That is a great looking skid, did you get that from Paul?
 
Thats nice, is it the xlt lariat king ranch model ? whatever it is it looks super duty. good luck and congrats on your new setup.
 
I understand the need for a trailer in your climate, insulate the trailer though to help you keep from freezing up your setup. Also you should look for a way to get the burner exhaust out of the trailer. Hour meter wouldn't be a bad thing to find, and I don't know if this is plumbed in already but a way to antifreeze the pump and hoses wouldn't be a bad idea. I know money is probably tight with the new rig, but you should look into these sooner then later.

Thanks for the input Ben, do you have your setup in an enclosed trailer? If so what did you use to insulate yours? I want to get the burner exhaust vented and I was thinking of something that was like flexible that I could pull down when using it, and then putting back up on the roof when not. As for the plumbing for antifreeze for the pump and hose I am not sure if it is plumbed??? You have any pictures of this?
 
I don't use a trailer, I have a large truck that came with an insulated box as it spent its earlier life as refrigerated.

From what I have seen of trailers, most use spray foam to insulate the trailers as that seems to work best. Not sure on price for that, but its not fun and is nasty stuff and would recommend letting somebody else do it vs a do it yourself kit.

For the burners vent, go type in "pressure wash enclosed trailer" and look at idea's in there. May guys out here adapt the burner exhaust to a chimney pipe and run that to the roof. At the roof they put a square box hole that is of course bigger then the diameter of the chimney pipe. A hinged square lid goes on top and has some sort of arm to open and close and lock open of course the cover. A safety switch is normally put on the arm so when its not open the burner will no fire either.

Sounds complicated, another idea if you have the room take the rectangular burner exhaust and find a way to turn it 90` and direct the heat out the trailer.

The anti freeze line is real simple. Off the supply water tank I assume there is a valve of sorts to turn off the water? Assuming that this valve is there you put in a T fitting off the valve on the tank. One side goes to the pump supply like it was before, the one open side I typically put a valve on and run a hose long enough to get in and to the bottom of a 5g pail. This could be a couple feet, depends on the setup and how long you need.

To get anti freeze into the system, close the tank valve, open that valve we just installed and with a 5g pail of anti freeze or windshield washer fluid start the pressure washer with your hand on the gun. Remember your bypass goes back to the tank, so not having the gun trigger pulled will just bypass all your anti freeze into your tank. Once the anti freeze makes it out of the gun (Color will change and it typically looks soapy when it hits the ground) I would then consider letting the handle on the gun go and let the bypass line get some anti freeze in it. This is only for 4-5 secs at most, then turn the machine off and you are done. Shut the anti freeze valve to the off position and I typically leave the valve to the tank closed as well.

To remove the anti freeze, open the tank valve and fill the container that has anti freeze from the gun/hose until the color changes to clear or water. You can reuse this a few times, just remember you are diluting it every use and being cheap here can cause a day of lost work and or a broken pump or burner coil. I typically use windshield washer fluid, cheap and when some gets in the supply tank through the bypass I am not as concerned with it mixing with the water.

Parts list
Assuming the hose from the tank is 3/4 inch

1 x 3/4 tee
2 x 3/4 nipple
2 x 3/4 valve (Gate/ball valve, what ever fits and works best for you)
1 x 3/4 Male threaded hose nipple
5 feet x 3/4 hose (You can get more or less, depends on what you need)

You can use a three way valve instead of the tee and valve, I just find 3 way valves to be a little finicky and cause issues with supply sometimes.

If you are not sure I will try and remember to take a photo tomorrow of my open parkade trailer.
