Saving screen shots

I am having a problem when using the Ctrl+Prnt Scrn buttons, when I do this and then open up Wordpad and then paste the image there, the image is usually the right half of the screen.

Not sure why or how it is doing this, I would like to save the top half or even top quarter of the screen, not one side or the other.

Anyone know why this happens or how to fix it?

Thanks.

Do you have multiple monitors? 'Print Screen' button captures the entire screen(s). ALT + 'Print Screen' button captures the active window (whatever the size). CTRL + 'Print Screen' button doesn't do anything unique that I'm aware of unless you're using a 3rd party application.

After you paste the capture to WordPad, click on the image and look for the little squares at each of the four corners then drag one to re-size the graphic.

How about using the snipping tool in the accessories
tab. I run windows 7

I am using my laptop, have several windows open but only use one at a time.

The problem was I was saving into wordpad but when I click the files, they would open in MS Word, that was the problem.

I need to make sure that they open in Wordpad and they are regular size.

Thanks.

When you save the file, make sure it is being saved with the RTF (Rich Text Format) file extension. If, when you open the file again and it opens with Word, then the file association needs to be changed to WordPad.
