Has anyone here used Plant Wash?

I don't usually have problems with burnt leaves on plants, but it does happen from time to time. The only times that I have is when the following rain is just light enough to loosen the roof cleaning mix onto the plants leaves. If its a heavy rain then no issues. I was looking into trying Plant Wash made by Softwash Systems but I wanted to get some input from some fellow roof cleaners who have used it firsthand. Does it actually help prevent burnt leaves? From what I have researched it is mainly 30-10-10 fertilizer with some other ingredients. I know that 30-10-10 fertilizer is great for lowering the pH of the soil and making it more acidic which is good because sodium hypochlorite increases pH. I never have issues with plants dying due to soil contamination so I don't see how any type of fertilizer would help protect the leaves from roof mix exposure.

We've used it, more often in 2012 than in 2013. I can't say for sure that it works really well, its kind of faith thing that it is helping. Since we usually don't have problems I got out of the habit of using it unless there is a call back for wilted leaves. In 2012 we had an equipment malfunction in the middle of a drought and nailed a very large bush with some strong SH, it looked very dead, we soaked it with plant wash, did prune a few things, and a few months later it was back again, really surprised me.

We use plant wash on every job every time. It does what you are talking about with the soil but it also helps with direct contact with leaves and foliage. We water before, during and after and then as a final measure we apply plant wash. Just be sure to follow instructions on the tub. Always apply with a miracle grow hose end sprayer or the like.

Plant Wash sounds like snake oil... Has anyone ever done a side by side comparison on plants it was used on and not used on? With an exactly equal application of SH on both plants? Too much conjecture, not enough facts.

We use water. Just when we think the plants are wet enough, we wet them again and again. Haven't had any problems. Don't see the point in spending time swapping to a Miracle Gro fertilizer nozzle when we can just keep watering and have the same outcome for free.

Yes I have done tests...in my tests on grass and plants it does work. It's not snake oil, it's plant food and does as advertised. I have some but rarely ever use it, but it does work.

Can you describe how you tested it? I'm just curious as to how plant food somehow stops the effects of a caustic chemical. The original post asked if it stops leaves from being burnt by chlorine. Are burnt leaves being avoided because of this Plant Wash, or is it just because of taking an extra bit of time applying more water (with plant wash) after the rinsing is finished? I understand how it helps "green" plants up after a roof cleaning. It's NPK fertilizer with minors. Now we're just taking on the role of a lawn maintenance company by fertilizing customers' grass and plants after we get done cleaning a roof?

I read an Encyclopedia Brown story when I was a kid. It was about special, amazing "worm pills" that when applied to dirt, and watered in thoroughly, would bring earthworms up to the surface. He figured out that the pills actually weren't doing anything, but the worms came to the surface to get air from flooded soil due to the watering.

I think you are overthinking this.

You have an answer to your question but feel to keep on questioning but in a bashing kind of way.

Buy some and try it out, if you don't like it or don't get good results then don't use it.

Results can vary depending on how you apply it, the soil acidity, the humidity, how much you water before, during and after, what the barometric pressure is, etc..... so many variables involved that it would take a lot of work and a lot of testing to give you the answers you are demanding and nobody here is going to do that kind of effort to answer someone's questions.

Try it or don't try it but don't make this into a bashing thread and no need to call someone's product snake oil whether intended or not.

Applying something besides water like fertilizer or anything that is meant to help plants is better than nothing.

"so many variables involved that it would take a lot of work and a lot of testing to give you the answers you are demanding"

I definitely have my answer since the people that have used it are saying they really don't know if it works.

So if someone is selling a product to folks that isn't proven to really do anything to truly protect vegetation from chlorine runoff, yet is marketed to do just that, and I ask for evidence of it working because I don't just buy into the next salesman claiming to have magic juice, I'm the bad guy?

Got it.

Glad you got it, I was hoping that you could.

I sprayed some roof mix on my grass at home, treated an area of that with water only and an area with plant wash only. The area with plant wash responded much better than the area treated with just water. My wife also used it on some plants she was having problems with, she actually just sprinkled some in the soil and watered it in. And with in a couple days the plants were much healthier and now live a healthy and prosperous life.

I have no idea about if it prevents burning of leaves, never tested that. I was merely letting you know that the product, IMO, does work. You said it sounded like snake oil, and just wanted to let you know that it's not snake oil. Snake Oil is usually a product that is sold by someone that is "here today gone tomorrow" and was never intended to work as advertised but instead is sold to rip someone off. I certainly wouldn't classify Plant Wash as that type product.

Wood.... you are seemingly the type of person that just surrounds themselves with negativity. People on this thread have said that they used it and it worked for them when they did.
I don't know why you think it should even be some miracle juice? It's not, it just helps prevent caustic burns on leaves and protects them from being burned up by bleach. Its a miracle!!!
Please prove me wrong by taking my post for what its worth. A jovial attempt to cheer you up and that's about it.
There are MANY pros who use this product but they are not necessarily guys who frequent this board. Have a good day Fullwood

I don't mean to come off in a negative manner. Was simply curious if we are missing something . Unlike most I like to research and ask questions and hope for facts.
I think I will go buy some "plant wash" and do a rest for myself . However if there is ever any chemical burn on plants then my ground guy isnt doing his job. Or the person on the roof is moving to quickly. At that point they are getting fired and I'm sending them to work for Superior .
Lol I'm j/k

We are thick Skinned here , guys who do not have real businesses Sense or want options go to places they are told to do things Blindly for the profit of others.

Here we just sort the BS from the REST

Just be cautious of a false sense of security, IMHO there is nothing better then effective watering.

Most guys Do not even Begin to Understand the process of why.

Not To mention Surfactants Can be your Enemy if used Wrong.

Most Believe the Burn on the Plants Kill them. Most plants Die from lack of water and when the roof Process Starts the lack of Water Root Systems is actually what kills the Plants not Wetting the Leaves. If you fill the Roots with Fresh water no Chemicals the Plant will not Ingest the SH directly. Typical Plants Get Nutrients from UV and Food from Roots. SO yes if you burn the Leaf System you can Kill the plant but 90% is the roots absorbing.

Simple, Flood the roots with Water prior.

Simply Science Says the PH level is High, anything that will Lower will Help the Plant.

ANYTHING!!!

I didn't say do not SpraY Leafs , just make sure the Roots are Flooded with FRESH water, if you use any Chems in that Process to Lower PH it will Help. Pretty Simple no more Dead Plants
