Direct Drive VS Belt Drive
Direct drive for a home owner is Great!
For a Contract Cleaner it Sucks!
Here is why.
Think about the concept of Direct drive.
You have a Engine that spins at 3400 Rpm coupled to a pump direct.
What if it breaks?
What will happen to the Engine if the pump siezes up?
Will the Engine throw a rod as well?
How about the heat exchange from the Engine to the pump?
Will that dammage the oil seals?
How about the wear on the packings?
Something moving that fast is going to cause alot of heat from friction.
The valves are opening and closing at the same speed.
All of the parts are subjected to faster wear and heat.
Now with a belt drive, the pump turns at 800 to 1450 RPM.
with no heat transfer from the Engine and if the pump breaks the belt slips. The parts will last alot longer because of the lower RPM, friction and, temp. These pumps are also bigger and constructed for more durability.
