Here was how I spent my 70 degree day here in Houston. The arbor took a whole 8 gallons of Gray Away Cedar Dark and It was last stained on 2003.

One more from underneath..

Thanks Jeff..Rance....It was long day but the payday was pretty good!

Well Red you know it! It's one of the best logo around brother!

I'm going to get with you soon and put together a flyer for the Spring.

How'd you get it to float in the air like that without chains?

Oh, and I wanna learn how do wood like that too. When's your school opening up?

OK dumb question on my part. What is the plastic wrap for in the second picture?

I enclose the structure all around then get inside and spray. I then climb up and remove the top and spray down keeping the plastic on the walls to catch the overspray.

Here is how I protect the floor ..Water..plastic..

That's great work Shane. I hope is wasn't too windy when you were putting the plastic up.

Thanks Jason!

Well it wasn't super windy but the later it got the wind picked up a little stronger and made it tougher since I was alone. Let's say I had a few choice words for the wind!!

How long does a job like this take?

This job alone took me 3 hours to clean and 6 hrs to prep and stain. My stapler jammed on me that delayed me some.

Great job BDA Shane ! This gets me thinking ? Do you think a soft washer using bleach and just cleaning it wood extend the life of the arbor?

Or Shane that gets me think more? You been doing this for over 15 years what if you just cleaned all the wood structures the Softwash wood way with just bleach and no Bakers after what be the condition of the decks and houses ? Enquiring minds want to know?

Jim there is no way this structure would have lasted as long as it did without sealing the wood by using an oil to keep the wood from drying out. I remember what everybody was saying about the few of us that used 12% to clean. "the wood lignin will fall apart with bleach" "bleach breaks down the wood fibers" Well that is very true is wood is not introduced back into the wood to keep it moist.

Here is AC trying to spread his wanna be wood restoration videos on Facebook.SMH

It's magic by hidden fasteners .....

Sorry no wood class but you are welcome to call me anytime and i'll let you in on all my secrets!

Amazing work as usual Shane.

Do the staples go all the way into the wood or partial so you can get them out or do you just tear the plastic off and leave the staples in the wood? That looks like a lot of staples to remove.

I wonder if a lot of plastic spring clamps would work the same to hold the plastic, a lot of clamps?

Chris I use 1/2" staples that i staple pieces of cardboard "see pic below" on top of the plastic to hold it down multiple times when it's real windy. When I pull up the plastic they come off if not I remove with pliers. Oh yeah when it's windy clamps will NOT work to hold the plastic down. The best stapler you will find for $50.
