We service a lot of awnings through out the southern New Jersey, Philadelphia, Delaware areas. This is a canvass awning that requires constant cleaning because of multiple light and heated signs above the canvass. Birds roosting in the cold weather turns the awnings into an eye sore quickly. During the winter months we may clean awnings weekly in order to remove the acidic bird waste as quickly as possible. For any customer looking to maintain their investment and keep their curb appeal we recommend no less than two services per year.
This particular awning was cleaned just above freezing. I had to use warm water, our cleaning solution and a bit of elbow grease. The cold temperatures makes everything more difficult of course. As you see in the first pic I am using a 27' pole with a brush attached. It's important to use a wood bristle brush to keep from marking the fabric. Plastic stiff bristle brushes are too course on the fabric and will leave lines. As you know, no pressure. We down stream and use high volume low pressure rinse.
I had already done some cleaning on this awning when I remembered to snap a picture. The soiling was extremely heavy and some of the spots were approaching being a permanent stain. No telling what the birds had been eating. I had to use a special spot remover chemical in order to lift some of the worst of the spots. You can tell from the final picture that it came out looking brand new.
We specialize in awning cleaning, restoring canvass, vinyl, and fiberglass.
