Just curious, how many guys do post const clean up? Is there any potential to make money doing it? I did a job today post const clean up, good money, work not hard, but kinda tedious if you ask me. But had a good conversation with the PM about doing a few more sites as his company finishes them, all in my traveling area. Just curious to hear if others were doing post const cleanup and making good money from it...btw...no pressure washing involved yet. I was selling hard..

I've done a few CCU on windows and you need to find the right contractor to work with since you should charge anywhere from double (for slightly dirty windows) to 4 times as much (for heavily soiled frames and windows) as a normal window cleaning. Most contractors don't understand that.

I did it for about 5 years for a very high end custom builder . Your at the mercy of every contractor before you. I ended up coming up with procedures for the contractor to protect the windows during the construction process. The most important fact to convey is the window cleaner is the only person who does not scratch glass . I found the contactors mostly likely who can and did scratch the glass. Came up with procedure for them .

I was brought in because of a couple of very costly window replacements( severe scratches ). Two window cleaning companies were fired . I went to two jobs in process and walked around and observe the work in process for two days and found the the window installers and the painters scratching the glass. The installers just wiping the gritty dirt off and the painter sanding the putty from filling the nail holes was the biggest culprit.

The prior window cleaners never scratched the glass.

Because of my experience I got a window cleaning company out of a big claim brought against them. I was hired to clean and seal a 100 foot long mahogany deck on a new brick house. I took care of their other home. I was the only contractor not evolved with the builder and good thing. The window cleaning and the sealing of the deck were the last things to be done on this new house. The deck was used as a work surface for a year because it was built into a hillside and was quite a mess. The window guys were cleaning while I was working on the deck and I was watching to see how good they were and noticed the scratches . I immediately new they were from the panters.

Month later I get a call to stain a small screened in area they added. There was a meeting going on and they were walking around the house. I over herd what they were talking about . I asked the home owner if I could speak to him and told him I over herd them talking . So I get there attention. Window company owner, insurance adjuster, builder. Without looking at any windows . I told them where all the scratches were and were the worst ones were and who did it. Then I told them they were no scratches on the out side of the glass. I was correct but already new it.they were blaming the wrong contractors.

The insurance company ( window cleaner)was ready to pay 60k in damage. The builder and home owner were very pissed off at me but they new the builder and development I did the work in and I told them of my history . In the end somebody paid the homeowner and he didn't tell me who did. I maintain the deck and they never fixed the glass . They just got 60k. I think the painters worked for the builder because he was the most pissed.

Doing post construction clean up makes you learn a lot about other trades and the building process.

I do it. With new homes not booming here lately, I haven't done many for awhile.
If you can find builders who appreciate the work you do and are willing to pay accordingly, it can be decent as an add-on.
