1.5 inch feed.

Hello all.

I'm setting up a wash trailer and have a question . can a hydrotek 7.5 gpm pump feed from a 1.5 inch supply 2 foot direct to tank?. This new pump gets up to pressure then seems to start starving for water after 5 seconds of spraying.

Thanks.

Tim

Some people do it but I would plumb both sides and dual feed it.

cool thanks for the replies. After it sitting under a tank load of water it showed 2 small air leaks as small drips, it took drying the deck in the sun to spot.. Also I elevated the tank a little more. I will look into getting a dual fed tomorrow. Had to go wash an outbuilding at my church to test both systems out. I love this pump.

Thank you again

just want to say hope you'll had a Happy convention!!!!!

Thx again to Doug.

I went to his class and even though he was at convention he got me to the root of my problem.

Great consult!

I thought with dual feeding you needed two separate lines each from their own bulkhead, not a line split into two lines.

Negative ghost rider. The layout in the picture is fine.

Though your idea would work too.

You don't need to elevate your tank, I have never heard of anyone elevating their tank. Your bulkhead fitting should be near the bottom of the tank but you will not pull every drop out of the tank unfortunately and you should stop running if you get close to the bulkhead level in the tank so you don't cavitate the pump. Your picture is small and hard to see how low the bulkhead is, if it is close to the bottom you should be ok.

I have run a 1" hose line to my 8gpm pump for years now, single feed, no problems.

I had a 3/4" line to my 5.6gpm pump for years also but then changed it to a 1" line to give it a little bit more water if it needs it, plus the blue bowl filters like in the other picture posted in this thread. Now to just mount those filters somewhere instead of just letting them lie on the trailer floor.

Even one small leak will cause pump issues, checking for leaks is a great idea.
