Looking for a used truck

After driving all the way to Utah and bringing back a bad used truck I can understand your desire for the new trucks.

But when you can buy 30 new trucks at less than 10% of a 5 year contract that changes things and still leaves you with over 8 million to work with.

Most of us aren't in that position.

It was Colorado. I hate contractor auctions. It is just a totally different business model from most contractors, necessitated by size of operation, and areas of specialty.
By the way, our extra jobs since January 1 have been about $100k. If this keeps up, I am going to have to get some people trained, and maybe receive some equipment.

I am surprised the F150 isnt in there. I am really surprised that there are so many duplicates of one vehicle. All the chevy's are the same.

That 11 of the 12 vechicles are trucks doesn't surprise because trucks have more utility value than do passenger cars. So truck guys are willing to live with the things that come with high mileage like worn out interiors and squeaks and rattles

That's one thing we leaned delivering dry cleaning. We e
Were constantly bringing in the E150 or Chevy 1500s for repair on brakes, suspension or coolant issues, but there was a dramatic decrease in problems once we moved up to 3/4 ton and up.

Tony I didn't read all the math. I know if gives me piece of mind not having to worry about a truck down ... I'm in the same boat as Scott. A truck down for a day could be 1-3 thousand in loss revenue.
We run our stuff hard and for long hours. There for I can't have a truck that will nickle and dime me to death I would rather pay that up front in the form of a payment.

We never have a truck down. A replacement is never more than a phone call away.

Just trying to help. I've done it both ways.

Tony, do you still have the 96 fords in your fleet? What kind of gas mileage are/were you getting out of them?

Looking for another one too...I am trying to pick up one that was in a fleet BEFORE it goes to auction. Got a couple friends looking for me within their company. We shall see.

Yes, about 10 on the flatbed running around with a full 325 tank all the time and Chris says the pickup with the skid in the back gets 13. Usually only about 150 gallons on that one.

Tell me why you prefer gas over diesel.

Parts are cheap and available just about everywhere.

Oil changes are cheap.

Tale away any transmission or deep engine problems and most problems on gas Fords can be fixed pretty fast.

If you are out on the road and have a problem chances are even auto zone has the parts needed in a pinch.

I have had nothing but problems with diesels. I still have one. Just crossing my fingers every morning when they go out.

My 6.0 went through two turbos, two full sets of injectors and an entire engine before it even hit 50k miles. So much for new truck reliability!

Took 3 weeks to get it back after the first turbo and 5 weeks at the dealership for the motor. Always claiming they were waiting for parts.

My 7.3 non turbo bucket truck continuously had glow plugs going out, starter went out, and the head gasket blew. I sold it at 68k miles.

I have a high mileage 7.3 flatbed now that I bought only because it had high miles. I figured if it had that many miles, it probably runs more than it sits in the shop.

Love that logic Tony, sounds like something I would think.

Here are pics of the 96's from Google earth. The black one was just painted black and didn't have the skid on it yet.

There's also a Chevy 3500 in the back, but we didn't get much use out of it so we took the skid off and put it on the Ford. It had a lot of electrical Gremlins.

Tony, are you sure it was Google that took the pics?
