David Olson was a Great Washer who Helped so many of us over the Years. I asked Peggy (Daves Wife) when David Passed away if the Industry ever Made an award in his Name She would Approve, she of course was speechless. I informed her that if I had ever had the chance to Start and award in Dave's Name it would be a Person who Stood out in the industry. Hence we Decided that Larry Hinkley Was that Man, Larry like Dave has helped so many people, Larry Didn't have a Clue he was going to receive the award. I told Larry Come to UAMCC National Houston Convention to Speak.

Larry Accepted my invite Having no Idea he was going to Receive the award. When his name was Called I think he was Surprised. Many People were actually surprised since it was the first ever Dave Olson award.

I want future people to understand while I have received awards myself and seen awards given I want all to know that the Dave Olson Award is not an annual award given each year. This award will only be given when someone in the Industry is a clear Standout. Some who's merits of achievement are over the top. I want Larry, Peg as Dave called her to know that when Larry started Bawling I was Lost for words. As I write this reflecting back on the moment I'm proud that my colleague and Freind Scott Stone presented the award. Scott understood the reasons for the Dave Olson award and how much Dave Has meant to all of us. I hope in the future the recipients and the people who elect to give this Out read and understand the Fellowship , love and lifetime achievements this award was Based on.

I'm proud to be the President of our industry organization today, the good the UAMCC has done and will continue to do changing peoples lives is important to me. Today I feel the industry is full and meaningful for the future. These two Leaders are those who you should model yourselves after for future success.

God Bless you Larry & Dave, thank you for being great leaders!!!!!!!!

Thanks Peg for allowing us to Honor David, as his memory will Live on for Future Generations of Mobile Cleaners.

I remember reading Davids post back on the old Delco board. David was a no drama man, never started any or participated in any. I loved seeing the heavy equipment he washed and reading his informative posts.
Oh the good old days, David, big boy/Larry,Mike Hughs,Les and John (I forget his last name I think he was from Walnut Ca?)

Well deserved...and way past due. I am so glad that i was able to have to a front row seat. I am also glad that I got spend time w Larry at the convention.

As for Dave Olsen...wow..a Man's Man. I so appreciate the few phone calls and time he spent with me sharing his knowledge and experience.

yeah, what ever happened to Mike hughes? Bigboy? Ron P?

I attended the Delco 5day "Mobile Cleaning" contractors school in Dallas a few years ago. I knew na thin. Larry was the the main teacher.I sat at his desk for hours after class and asking lots of dumb questions and even had him explain most of the tools in there power washing catalog. He was always kind, unhurried and had a funny good ol boy story about all sorts of things related to the business. I think he got lots and lots of folks started on the right foot in this business. Good man and good teacher this honor is well deserved. Congratulations.

That Ron P was trouble.

I stopped power washing in 2005........and did a bit part time in 2006. A couple of years ago I actually paid someone (an previous friendly competitor) to power wash my deck and house...........that was a weird feeling.

I sell heating and air conditioning for a living now. For a couple of years I was a HVAC maintenance technician as well. I enjoy my new industry very much, but I miss the satisfaction of making something look like new again.

I hope you all are doing well. Dave Olson was a very special man and a blessing to the industry. I too have talked to him on the phone, and had the pleasure of meeting him at a PWNA event. Congrats to Larry as well.

Take care,

Mike Hughes
