Hey ive been following your question on a few forums and unfortunately there isnt a cheap way to recover directly from the surface cleaner. The amount of vacuum required to use it effectively isnt going to be found at home depot. If I were you I would get a $120 shop vac with auto pump out and 4-5sand tubes and start with that. You can still use that surface cleaner (plug the vac port) then you just rinse after, taking care to direct your water to your collection area (using sand tubes and a guy on a squeegee). At your collection point have your shop vac with a puddle sucker picking up the wash water, then you can direct it where ever you want (tank on a trailer, landscape, etc.)

Do some jobs this way till you can afford the new hydrotek vac or any larger recovery vac. I use the Sirocco PEV2 with about the same sized pw machine as you and both 12" and 21" vac recovery surface cleaners. Over 100' of vac hose on the 21" and this vac isnt quite strong enough to "excel" when surface cleaning. Save up and buy the gas powered vacs if you really want some good production speed.

Home depot type vacuum WILL NOT last for more than an hour or two under constant usage. Been there, done that, got the t-shirt. They are only rated to run about 15 to 20 minutes at a time, before they need to be shut off and cooled off.

thanks for the answers guys!
guess ill just have to wait it out!
i was looking at those Sirocco systems i cant find any idea of their prices tho!
they seem like good equipment i like their design

You can call Jerry in San Diego. He is the manufacturer, and sells direct. His website is www.pressurewasher.net That will get you more information, and his phone number.
