Downstream Injector Problems

Where do you guys get your ds injectors? How long to they usually last? I don't do much soft washing at all, maybe once every two months. Well, just about every time I hook it up, the injector doesn't pull soap. I've tried 4 different ones from 4 different places and every single one of them works for one job and then doesn't work anymore. I flush them out after use, and keep them in a dry bin on the rig, but they all seem to be crap. The last one I bought, I took it out for the first time and it worked for the first half of that job and then just stopped pulling SH. As suggested by a distributor, I took it apart and flushed it out, but that didn't work. In fact, it's worse because it leaks now. I've got a big soft wash job in 4 days and don't have an injector. Any suggestions?

Get some from Bob at PressureTek.

Tell him that I said to send you the Rattler.

Get a couple of them while you are thinking of it.

While you have him on the phone, ask if you could store it in a bucket of water for two months at a time or see if he has a better idea.

I've got the same one from a year ago.
Never flushed it out.
One thing I've noticed though, if all of my hose on the hose reel is pulled out, and the "knob" where the hose comes off the hose reel is facing down, it won't draw soap, so I usually leave it wrapped around twice, if any of this makes sense.

Got a couple from Bob. Every once in a while the ball sticks in the O-Ring. Stick a welding cleaner tool in and release it. I'm still using the first one I bought, even though I have three or four backups. It's been about a year! I flush it out about 50% of the time. Can't understand why some people are having problems.

Hey Sam,
What type of work do you do? I can't imagine living in Alabama and not down streaming bleach virtually every day. Are you using an x-jet instead? I almost always keep 7 or 8 in the truck and when I get down to 3 or 4 I order some more. I treat them like they are disposable. Some times they last a couple days and sometimes they may last a few months. I'm not real good about rinsing them out.

Give me a shout sometime, if you're heading to the beach

I have been delighted with my Super Suds Sucker..... I was having HUGE soap draw issues when I went from 4 gpm to 8 gpm.. using the 5-8 Gen hi Draw and 250 feet of hose. SSS #3 oriface..... Soaps better than my 4!
What are they costing you? If i remember right those were way higher then the gen hi draw

I think I gave $60 is for them...With a rebuilt kit...... I was soooooo disappointed with the draw on my 8GPM when i got it.. tried the 5-8, 3-5 .. neither would soap well at at.. i was quite disgusted with my purchase..... I did draw tests.... all kinds of stuff.... I posted my issues on another forum and got a PM for the direction of the SSS to go in..... It pushes copious amounts of soap!! My back up is still a hi draw ( which is really just a draw ).... but they all look good with shiny stainless plugs and couplers!

Thanks for the info Matt. My 8 gpm high draw is very temperamental was always curious about the SSS that people talked about.

You running an 8 GPM right?? I had to change my rinse nozzles as they would still draw with the SSS and the #3 nozzle installed.

Yes we have an 8 GPM. We also pull our injector tube out instead of a nozzle change as we like to use our soap tips even for rinsing to rinse with minimal pressure still. Still weve been having hit and miss issues lately on pull when at a job it will pull then randomly just stop for a bit without changing tips.

Sorry for the thread overtaking sam. We also have had injectors that seem to last a day or ones that keep going and going. Havn't figured out a method to the madness yet but we ALWAYS keep 2 spares with qc's waiting in the toolbox on the truck just incase. I don't wanna troubleshoot an injector when on site so it helps to have spares. But even swapping to a brand new spare our draw has been moody on jobs lately.

Mark, I do mostly fast food restaurant work, so I've got a very strong degreaser for that, and apply with a pump sprayer. Last week, I bought a used rig from a guy and he has a ds injector permanently installed, but my main rig doesn't. The only difference is that his is vertically mounted and mine is horizontal, and only hooked in when its needed. Let me also say that if there is a way to have mechanical problems, then I will have them. I should change my name to Mr. Faulty Equipment, because if there is a way for something to break, I will find a way. If there isn't, I will invent one.

It's called Arrow and is sold here locally, made in Rome, Georgia. Actually a friend of mine from college makes it. It's around $45 for a 5 gallon and I cut it 5:1 in the pump sprayer. A 2 gallon pump sprayer will last me around 3 jobs. The guy who's rig I bought, mixes it 3:1 and then down streams with it and that works very well. I'm actually going to start doing that at all my stores, if I can ever get the damn injector to work.
