Ideas to improve PWI. I understand about business, I grew up in one and now have my own and am branching into the P/W side of cleaning or service. I joined PWI to get help and to learn. I understand that there are a lot of trade secrets as in any business and there area lot that will not share but when people are asking for help a lot of times the thread goes dead. If someone ask for help and someone is willing to help use the PM to give advice or help if he or she feels that it should not be public. I know about seasonal pressure washers, hacks, low ballers and am none of them. I myself started in the back of my pool truck loading and unloading my p/w equipment to go do job and then set it back up for the next days pool route. Then I had a small trailer that I towed behind the s-10with the p/w equipment on it. Soon out grew it and now have a single axle 6x10 trailer that I use my 1ton to pull for p/w jobs, s again I m not here today gone tomorrow. So if there is a question as to helping someone look at there pot what they are and make a decision from there. I also find it funny that those green dots under your avatar shows me on skid row and others nice helpful and so on and a man like Russ from Southside is also on skid row. Makes you think about the ones running this. Another ay I feel this could be improved is the search part. There are times when you go through pages with no results, key words or les key words or a search within a category might be one way, and no I do not know how to write programs and so on. Just m thoughts and if this post causes me to be banned then I will keep learning and growing my business from skid row.
 
Get banned? LOL ... It think there's been 1 banning in the past 300 years.

As for the 'Skid Row' thing, look at the members post count, you'll get a better idea about them.
 
Wow, I have never even noticed the green dot's, and I along with Russ and a host of others run this show.

Have you asked some questions here that you did not get answered. If so ask again or bump up your thread and I will personally help you,if I can. I never concern myself with seasonal, hacks, low ballers, (hec budget conscience Larry is my best friend)(some refer to him as low ball Larry) and will do whatever I can to help them, as long as i see they are making an effort to learn the trade correctly.

I will tell you this, when i see someone with a low post count ask a question like what would you use on this, that tells me they are really green, and I am not going to post an answer like "hit it with your HW mix" in fact I am not going to answer. WHY? Number one there is way more to it than hit it w your HW mix" I don't know if this guy has ever handled bleach let alone pull the cord on a lawn mower. We have to be very careful and selective in who we answer as well as WHAT and HOW we answer. At least I feel i do.

Green dots look like the old karma system. You have to click on something. Maybe its the user reputation icon on the bottom left of your post (star next to "blog this post"). Im sure Ron would know


Ok found it. It is the little icon on bottom left of other peoples posts it won't show up on yours. Hey Randy the only reason you don't have a lot of dots is because people on this board don't even know about them. And the fact that you are a newbie sort of.

It has nothing to do with being on skid row. If you like a persons post you click on the icon and they accumulate points which translate to reputation dots.

Ok this is not about me. It's my thoughts to a forum on ideas to improve PWI. I found the dots by accident, and thought why, did some checking and thought it was funny for me since I am a newbie to this. After doing some checking I looked at Russ and thought it was not right for a man who has helped me many times on the phone with what ever question I asked. Thats all. I am a newbie and am learning, and I am still in the school of hard knocks and can also say that there is not a day that I do not learn something new. Thank you Doug for the suggestion of the bump and for the help you have offered.

Actually upon further investigation this bar or dot thing is kinda strange. Because Ron has over 21K posts and only 8 green bars. But Scott has over 6K posts, over 3 times less than Ron, but has 1 more bar/dot than Ron at 9.

So I think that eliminates the factor of dots relating to the number of posts you make. So where do these dots come from?

I think there is a conspiracy at hand... we may need Tony Shelton to chime in on this one too!
