I have a question...

Phil, I was looking at the fbo website, and saw a bid for a Powerboss pressure washer. That was the only acceptable model. How do you get around that one?

Nah. He will get it when he gets back. Just curious more than anything.

I would protest the specifications as being too restrictive, that they need to allow other equal systems to promote fair and open competition. I would include a copy of the spec for the specified machine along with a spec for my comparable unit, and then request that the sole source requirement be removed.

What if they continue, because the spec claims that is the only model approved for use on Naval vessels? Sounds really screwy to me, like someone had their friend specially approve the equipment.

seems like the Navy would want a WATER DRAGON Scott....L@L

Well, that's BS, the Navy has units from virtually all manufacturers. If they denied my protest, I'd file a protest with the GAO.

I agree. It was in the bid specification. What got me was the machine was a cheap cold water machine.

I found it, it was on Fedbid. That unit is not certified to UL-1776. I wrote the buyer, advised her certification is mandatory, and she cancelled the contract to have it re-solicited.

I didn't realize it was still active.
And that kids is how government contracts work. Sometimes you need to know the requirements better than purchasing.
