This is crazy!

I wonder if this will work?

If it does, the only way to ensure it's success and make sure is isn't used as a weapon against us like the Russians do when they turn off the grid at their pleasure is to have it completely controlled by private companies and managed at the local level, similar to the highway system we have now.

And I put it in this forum because of the environmental aspect.

Wow! Neat stuff for sure. Seems to futuristic to see in my time, and I'm only 42.

Very interesting stuff. I wonder what the cost per foot would be in comparison to asphalt or concrete. My guess is it would be too much to ever go mainstream.

Also how often would it need to be cleaned, Solar panels need to be washed all the time for efficiency. dirt, dust and hot tire marks would certainly reduce the amount of electricity generated. And what about the cars parked on them or driving on them to block the sun?

If it will really pay for itself like he says it should be installed as quick as it can be manufactured. I think its a stretch because I was really looking into solar about a year ago for my house and the only way it made sense was because of the government subsidies that go along with it and even then it was maybe a 5 year payback at best. At 10% return your money will double in 7 years so anything like this that take longer than 7 to pay back youd be better with mutual funds.

But I was looking at retail prices for panels so maybe it you are manufacturing them, and from what I hear they are getting more and more efficient, it works. The video was posted a year ago, I wonder how their testing went.

I think the biggest drawback for my area is the heaving of the ground when the ground freezes. I imagine it would take it's toll on the panels in one or twp winters so it would constantly need repaired.
