Using pressure washer for carpet cleaning

My carpet skid is 4gpm as well and only run between 150-350psi. What kind of tooling are you using? A conventional carpet wand or a rotary type of tool like a rotovac or something similar? I beleive you already have the roots blower. You can set this same machine up to clean tile as well. Only need anywhere from 1200-1800psi for it.

Carpet Cleaning with a Pressure Wash system.

The primary difference in truck-mount carpet cleaning machines and PressureWash skids..
The A) pressure control, and.. B) the heater type (for adjustable range)
..both are a MISTAKE to "get wrong"

Pressure Control- the adjustable range of an unloader by idiots as "0 to max rated" pressure..
..the actual "adjustable range" of an unloader is NOT to where it causes a 1000psi spike OVER the working-PSI of the system.
..nor is the "adjustable range" to include any setting lower than the minimum spike pressure caused by releasing the triggerGun.
You will find, generally speaking..

a 4000psi unloader which claims "4300psi max" . might actually stop unloading completely, if you try to use it at 4350
.. and if you try to set it for less than 1200psi.. you might not be able to get the trapped pressure-spike to go lower that 1200psi.
the adjustable range of a 4000psi unloader should NOT be trusted at less than 1500psi nor over 4000psi

If you have a 2000psi machine you probably won't get it to adjust lower than 800psi

a "carpet cleaning" machine usually has a 1500psi unloader which does fine down to 300psi,
..but.. you won't notice the system doesn't unload at all, because there's SOmuch HP going to drive the blower,
.. and they dump unused (bypassed) water to the waste-tank. ..As wasting 50% of 2or 3gpm is "nothing" of the customer's waterSupply.

The Only way to truly have a dual-functional PressureWasher- CarpetCleaner is to have an unloader for EACH adjustable range you need.
..for 100 to 500psi, for 500-1500psi, for 1000 to 3000psi, and 1500 to 4000psi.

About the Heater- If your heater is adjusted to get 4gpm to 200degrF. and you cut the flow back to 2gpm for carpet cleaning..
you will find the working temp. to soar over 270 degrees, and the hose melting a big rut from the front door, to the wand with a now failed triggerValve.

You will have to adjust the heat to "balance between" minimum flow, and maximum heat..
Set a diesel heater for 2gpm to 230degrF. with fuel at 100-110 psi, and 4gpm will do about 170-180degrF.
..or get trained to adjust burner for more fuel-pressure and air, for closer to 200degrF.
If you have more than 4gpm, temp will be lower, OR.. you will need to get REALLY fast at changing burner nozzles etc.

I have been building Multi-Functional systems for almost 30 years, with flows to 14gpm, adjustable from 125 to 7500psi.,
and temperatures to up to 475 degrees F.
..sorry my website is temporarily down, but E-mail me for more info if you like.

ByTheWay .. if you do NOT have a pressure gauge on your system, get one before you attempt pressure adjustments,
and e-mail me for FREE pressure-adjustment instructions. Blowing a hose or pump-rod would make for a really bad day.
..and do NOT attempt to adjust your heater without training, as Blowing a coil is dangerous and unnecessary.

So Jerry, you are saying that if I wanted to run only 1600psi for a specific purpose, I should not use a regular unloader but get an unloader closer to that range like a 1800psi or 2000psi unloader so in case the spike pressure goes up, the hoses will not burst or other things will not happen (not talking about hot water with this machine right now)?

I am planning on using a different unloader as my Hotsy does several different types of work right now and changing the unloader all the time is getting old thus I am going to add another unloader and put plugs/couplers on the jumper hoses so I can change to whatever unloader I need for that purpose. I am not sure if I will be bypassing the burner or not right now, just need to rig up another unloader so I can change between the two when needed.

Sorry about going off track in this thread.

Jerry, for the carpet cleaning, what unloader would you recommend?

Thanks.

Call us for more on this..

We specialize in multi-Functional systems for over 30 years,

and have many system upgrade kit combinations available..

..We have pressure control kits for 100 to 500 psi on Carpet & Upholstery,

..We have pressure control kits for 1000 to 2000 psi on Tile & Grout,

..We have heaters to replace "heat Exchangers" for MUCH better heat,

We have complete PumpSystems for anything from 100 to 7000 psi

We have Heaters for anything from 200 to 350 degr’F.

We have “All in One” systems still running for over 25 years.

Example: 4gpm @ 4000psi Portable Hot Pressure Washer for Restaurant cleaning..
Tile & grout runs 1200-2000psi and 210-240 degr.F to sterilize instantly !

…paired with a PEV2 portable Vac.. use our 21” Vacuuming Surface Cleaner at 150ft,

or go 200ft with a Carpet Wand, and can suck & pumpOut a flood of 25gpm !
