FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

RE: PRIVATE CONFERENCE CALL - UAMCC/PWNA

In light of recent events related to BMPs and Wash Water Control in Orange County, and the subsequent fallout, I believe it would be beneficial to host a conference call. This call would be between PWNA Board of Directors, PWNA Environmental Committee, UAMCC Board of Directors and UAMCC Environmental Committee only.

The sole purpose of this call is to ascertain if we can find common ground on key industry issues and open lines of communication in an official capacity.

This initial call will not be open to public, although, it is our intention to host future 'town hall' calls to promote awareness, education, and inclusion on issues that affect our industry.

Very professional of the UAMCC to reach out like that.

I also don't believe that it will happen as most of the pwna people I have talked to have an "eletist" attitude and think lesser of those that are not in their org.

Hopefully it will happen and it would be in the best interest of the UAMCC if it was recorded so that things cannot be made up or added to the conversation on paper or misconstrued in any way. Just my opinion.

I give Steven props for trying to make this happen. If the PWNA knows it will be recorded I doubt that they will do a conference call. The 2 organizations are just to far apart and it will stay like that for many years to come.

The first one DOES NOT need to be recorded. I'm in agreement with Ron on this. The BOD people need to feel each other out first to see if this type of communication will be successful. I trust our BOD members to tell the truth like they always do. I do not need to hear a recording. Besides if we are to tell PWNA BOD we are recording, they may think we are up to no good and that could jeopardize this chance to find common ground. That's my 2 cents worth.

It may be that we are not that far apart, but just a couple people are, or it may be that you are right and we are all far apart. But we will never know unless we at least talk to each other. At this point I don't see how it could hurt anything for us just to talk.

Gentlemen from both sides...a suggestion if I may. Leave the personal stuff at the door.
This should be about nothing but the environment, the government, and the contractors. Nothing else.

Agreed Russ, it's time all that put behind us.

Opportunity to start fresh an build a benefit to all in the industry.

Keep in mind that the agenda of a few members of the PWNA may not be the agenda of their bod. Some like to think they are power brokers, but are more like laughing stocks.

I am on the road to North Florida right now, so I can't elaborate too much. But I would like to make it crystal clear, this is not a PR tactic or gamesmanship. I don't even really view this as a UAMCC thing, this is an opportunity for leadership from both orgs to communicate.

Like Kory said, face to face would be ideal - more could be achieved. But if this call doesn't go ahead, all is not lost - it is a starting point, and not 'victory' or 'loss' for either side.

If there is a desire on both sides to open lines of communication, then it will happen. 'Rome wasn't built in a day'... And even if the only common ground is on a single topic, it is still progress.

As a member of the UAMCC, I want our leaders focus, energy and time to be on moving forward. Likewise, I am sure PWNA members would want the same from their leaders.

With both sides claiming to be a voice and advocate for their members and the industry alike - it is time to use their actual voices to initiate a productive dialogue. Otherwise, those 'voices' will continue to drown each other out.
