Hey David. I get 5000 printed at a time, for $450 I usually pick 2 zones that are in the neighborhood of where the letters went out. A zone is usually around 5-600 pieces. I sent out 1060 at about $185. This isn't traditional mailings like Andrew is talking about. The people got letters from their HOA demanding they clean their driveway or whatever. It isn't even a matter of selling, or instilling a desire in someone to have work done, it's whoever gets to them first. They are getting the work done, it's your job to make sure it's you who does it.

Yup walker. 5-7 and the majority of your QUALIFIED customers will buy from you either then and there, or later (which creates top of mind awareness)

Ralph, what are the dimensions of your current cards and are they printed locally or shipped to you? Might be able to save you some money.

Yeah, direct mail can add up real quick if you just blindly throw money at it, and trust me, I have. Anyone want sleepless nights? Send off a $2,800 mailer campaign and get 1 job from it in the first two months. That sucks.

Sadly, it took us a few attempts to figure out that with EDDM you can start small and find out what works and what doesn't. You can filter your searches in route numbers to a lot of different specifics and test an area of your choosing. You can choose how much money you wanna spend :)

I know it can be tough to send out more fliers/mailers/$$$ to an area that didn't get you the results you wanted in your first attempt. But what's that stat marketing "experts" always say? Something about potential customers usually need to see 5-7 marketing pieces/adds before they purchase from you......

Another suggestion David. If anyone does call/hire you from any of your fliers, find out why? What drew their attention? What did they like about it? What didn't they like? Finding out from your customers WHY they hired you will help in your future marketing.

Very good advice there.

11x6. Gotprint. The price I gave includes shipping. I'm always up for saving money Red. I am also going to be changing my company name and will need a new logo and stuff. I already bought the domain name and claimed a facebook page for the new name. Just waiting till things slow down. I'll be contacting you about that.

50% of the time the customer will come right out and say they got a letter. I'll ask after I talk to them a bit, and about 30% will say yes I got a letter. The other 20% will say they are trying to get it done before they get the letter or they say, " I never get a letter". You can get in with the HOA's and they will recommend you to the resident if the resident asks how they can get it done. A lot of residents don't like the HOA and will never follow their recommendations. I try going directly to the customer. In some communities around here they will announce that the letters are going out in their monthly newsletters, and in some communities they send out letters every month.

Maybe we should make a facebook marketing page just for the guys interested in marketing?

David, all things considered (time, gas, expenses, etc) EDDM with gotprint.net cards is the most profitable way I've found to market in regards to print materials. Funny thing happened: After my first mailer went out, I didn't get any calls for a week. I actually got a job around the corner from the area. When I finished that clean, I rode through the area asking people who were outside if they got cards (showing them one). I landed 7 jobs that afternoon.

Some had thrown them away, some put them on the fridge (not wanting the coupon to expire), others put it on the to do list and never got around to it.

There is no formula or perfect method. You just gotta get out there and talk to people. Everyone doesn't want to read a postcard, flyer or website. We are in a 140 character or less society nowadays.

It also helps to have your rig with you READY TO GO (Never leave your surface cleaner for a house wash only, and never leave your 12.5% for a driveway only). Always be ready. People purchase from those who they like and trust - PERIOD. Price is always second.

Great idea!

That would pretty much be everybody, wouldn't it?

If you want to stay in business, then yes, I think it needs to be every business owner here

Don't waste time trying to re-invent the wheel, there is a FB group called "Pressure Washing Marketing"!

You are exactly right CL. I got a call from an area that I sent cards out 2 months ago, said he saved my card because he wasn't ready to get his driveway and pool deck cleaned. When I used to put out flyers in New Jersey years ago. I would get calls the next season off of them. I mainly restored decks back then, but I know, just because the phone didn't ring , doesn't mean the postcard isn't hanging on their refrigerator, waiting until they are ready.

Here's a creative idea... why not use the back as a 2 (or 3) month calendar? Something the customer won't mind hanging on their fridge thus keeping your ad in plain sight.

Maybe even a caption of "schedule your next cleaning ..."
