Galvanized Trailer Question

I am buying a new 6x12 tandem axle trailer this week and building a new setup and my local supplier suggested a galvanized trailer to consider. It's $800 more than the one I pull now.

Anyone have one? Would it be worth the extra money? Thanks!

That's a good question. On the one hand galvanized fittings don't hold up but those galvanized sign posts you see everywhere really last. I would lean towards not worth it.

Did he say why?

Holds up to the elements better, including the salty ocean air as I live in a beach town. I am leaning "no" unless I can find a real good argument for it.

I had an 8 x 4 tandem axle contractors trailer for 15 years. looked almost as good the day I sold it as the day I bought it.
If you go the Galv way as I have for my business trailer, it will look cleaner for longer BUT the HYPO does get into it and discolours the galv as it does the Aluminium Checker plate I have on my deck.
