Interesting article about pricing

Every time I tried that, the customer would say, "why such and oddball price, why not just round it off"?

For house washes I also round it off. 425. 350 yada yada but when it comes to the wood jobs I like to let the customer know where their money is going. I just finished a house that was a tad over 10k. I think if i wrote on the estimate " house strip and re-stain $10.000 " they would balk. but if i broke down the stain, supplies, labor etc they would be more comfortable with the price of $10.180.00. Most customers have zero idea what goes into wood work so I need to brake it down for them

I most defiantly agree if you give them a nice rounded number like $10,000.00 it looks like you pulled it out of the air. Yet giving a number of $10,153.00 looks like you figured exactly what it cost to do the job. It is all in perception.
