    TDS meter

    I have a duel inline tds meter that I use for the incoming water and the water after the R/O filters. I was noticing some spotting today and pulled out my hand held tds meter and took a reading. The inline meter was less then half the tds as the hand held meter. Any body else ever have this problem?

    It's not uncommon. The inline meters can get banged around and loose calibration. You can recalibrate them with a sodium solution, replace them, or go with the handheld. I generally check my TDS after the RO and then again after the DI. With a handheld you can check the TDS at all stages if your system is set up right.

    The inline meter is new. I want the meter inline to work because I have to constantly monitor the changing tds since I hook up to several different water sources through the day. The sources vary between 45 tds and over 200. I am using this portable r/o system to wash car lots and small fleets.

    Then the calibration fluid will be your best bet. I find a handheld to be a great tool since I can check my TDS as I'm cleaning without needing to go back to the onboard meter.
    That being said I'm using DI as the final filter so I can be sure to avoid spotting as I don't go above 010 PPM (or TDS) for window cleaning. It sounds like you are running just RO unless I'm mistaken.

    At this time just R/O. For me since I am running high pressure its not easy to check it on the fly at the wand. I might have to add DI to the system. Just trying avoid it right now because of space issues.

    I will add that at the wand is to late for me because that means I have already filled the water tank with bad water.

    Gotcha. In that case get the calibration solution and you can maintain the accuracy of your inline meter. How new is the meter? Perhaps it was bad from the factory or was badly handled in shipping.

    It has only been in service for a few days now. It was a amazon purchase. I will look into the calibration for sure.

    I should have checked it before putting it into service. Its one thing to spot 10k worth of windows but spotting 250k worth of cars in a matter of a few minutes can be a real bummer.

    Maybe some kind of alarm with flashing lights if the tds starts to get too high so you can be warned?
