Surface cleaner ? again.

If you're talking about a greasable hammerhead you want a lithium base marine grease, gli #2. I give mine a couple of shots after each day. I'm not even sure why I bother though, the swivel is a POS. I blew one out in the spring and the one in there now seems headed down the same path. I won't replace it again.

Nothing but silicone! Don't even bring other grease near the swivel.

Or put a good Mosmatic on it. No grease. Maintenance free and mine has lasted a couple years with no problems.

Great swivels, but they can absolutely run out of grease. Just because there is no grease nipple doesn't mean they don't need it. Some fresh silicone in there and they will run like butter forever.

Last time I was "inside" my DYF was quite by accident then curiosity. I was trying to take of a 90 elbow I put on top and it had frozen. While trying to get it off the cap unscrewed where I didn't even know it came apart. Anyhow I packed grease in there. When I tried to test the machine it seems the grease blocked the water flow and almost blew the damn cap off! After I turned pump off I was going to take the cap back off and see what was wrong and realized then the cap was real loose and I had tightened it well !?? Anyway most of the grease blew out so I took off the nozzles cleaned out what loose grease was left and hooked it all back up to flush out. So anyone know on a DYF how you are really supposed to lube it if at all? Maybe just a dab but seems that would just blow out too.

It only takes a little but it doesn't go in where you first open the cap. Push up on the spray bar from underneath and the bearing will lift up, then squirt the grease under the plate. there's actually two layers of free ball bearings rolling around in there. If you put the cap back on and it doesn't screw down completely, spin the bar a bit and it will work down. You can see it in the second half of this lame video.

This is how a well lubed mosmatic runs

They work well. I rarely use 4 gpm with it, but when I do it works better than a floater with 4 gpm. I have two Hammerheads with wheels and a Landa water jet. One tip. If you put wheels on an 18" hammerhead, the hole cut outs are in the wrong place. The 20" are correct. It isn't hard to re locate them. Just make a template and drill in the correct location.

Mine never spun like that.

It's the silicone! Really though, the weight of 4 bars does keep it spinning longer, but it is smooth as butter. The 90% plumbers silicone grease is great and easy to find, super lube is even better if you can get it. Lubricating, not the dielectric silicone grease.
