We get at least 3 or 4 calls a week from company's that claim to represent google or are associated with google that want to get our business rank number one on google.

So lady calls offers up the usually speech, she can get me rank high on google. I'm a little ticked today so, I ask her if she does any research before calling and wasting my time because my company ranks in the top 1-5 on most search terms associated with our services. She told me they do research before they call so I asked what was I rank on her search and what was the search term she used before calling me today. She said I rank low under the term "water washing" -

Just needed to vent, so annoying...

I get those calls all the time.......Im on first page on most.....

I ask them why they think I would want to be higher rated. When they find out I don't care, it blows their minds.

I had to sign up with one of them to revive my google maps listing since I couldn't get Google to approve it for the last 2 years. It's actually helped a lot. Gotta pay to play sometimes I guess.

Maybe if they called with a decent pitch and an actual solution (given that I had a problem) I would listen to them.

They normally don't check to see if I'm ranked either lol

You have to remember that they are just doing their job. Like when we go door to door with fliers. I thank them for the call, tell them I know how hard they work and let them go. They usually say Thank You to me before we hang up. Feels good.

Al, that's respectable...

I just hear the sucky pitch and hang up... However, one time I had a hell of a pitch and I was actually impressed... so I heard them out... then started asking EXTREMELY detailed questions, and the phone rep couldn't answer them....

In the end, it really helped me to understand that your company is as strong as your weakest link.

I've had the one's that claim to be part of Google or to have an exclusive deal with Google... Isn't lying in that way illegal?

I'm Jeremy with revitalize... Give us your monies, just don't call Luis ;) hahaha

I'm usually thanks but no thanks. I get that they are trying to sell but, some do not do any research before calling. Got a call last week offering to get me listed in x, y, and z directories. I asked if they were aware I was already listed in those directories. They had no idea because they did not look before calling me. If your going to call have your stuff together, if not they are just wasting my time.

What about the ones that call with a pre recorded message? When companies want to blow up your phone with spam calls, and don't even care enough to pay someone to do it? Do those calls bother you? I understand not taking it out on the guy who is just doing his job, but I literally get more calls from telemarketers then I get from customers or potential customers. It drives me crazy.

We were also getting a lot of clicks on our adword campaign from these company's costing me potential customers.

Those obviously don't come into play and I too do not have any respect for them. Quite frankly I cannot see how their business model supports this type of marketing.
