Hey everyone,

Im Alan and im in the process of starting my own power washing business. Ive already sourced a 99 econoline van, hot washer, and a few other odds and ends...getting there... Doing all the reading and research i can on the forums and on local business regulations. I currently work in the telecom industry with a 4x10 schedule. My hopes are to work on my powerwashing craft on my days off, and turn it into my only job, and hopefully my family business. I should be able to get my hands dirty in the next few weeks. Going to do some family homes and local businesses to draw attention, see where it goes.

Couldnt do it without these forums, thanks everyone!

Winter time is getting here... Slow season for a new power washing business... Don't let the slow season discourage you... Good luck in your endeavors

Im hoping to use that to my advantage, means i can focus more on learning and quality on everything i do for a while. Also, im hoping this wont be so seasonal in the california valley, it doesnt snow, and we get minimal rain.

thanks!

As i gather info both in the industry and in running a mobile business, ive started an account with Square to accept Credit cards which should be a great tool, I also just downloaded JOIST for bidding/estimates... Im hoping these two tools can help promote a professional, organized, quality appearance to my customers.

Gonna be just a little cynical here,..but in a positive,..for your own good kinda way,..Ha,Ha,..

You should be starting with at least 4-5 GPM machine. With 8 GPM being ideal for many. The difference between 2.7 GPM and 4-5 doesn't do the performance curve justice.
Rinsing and shooting distance,..like the peak of a two story is where you'll see the difference once you do go more GPM.

I think the "tools" part of business is the easy part, that way you can put more effort into other aspects of the job. Like learning techniques, cleaners etc...

Also, you'll want a surface cleaner, and 2.7 isn't gonna run one. When flat surface cleaning, more GPM not only cleans better,..but also flows dirt away better.

Trying not to be mean,..just trying to do you a favor.

**Doesn't mean you can't do the work,..but it's gonna be alot more work.

Jeff

Good luck buddy! Its a great business. PWI is a great place to learn.

Also when your ready to make some real money have this guy design your website, the website he made me is my main money maker. Works for me 24/7, when I woke up this morning had a person use the online quote form and all I had to do was email them a price. Got the job without even getting out of bed. Ty is the man!
