Water filter system

Hi Guys!

Although i have been reading this forum behind the scenes for a few weeks, this is my first post so hopfully its in the correct place.

Im from the UK and my main service is roof cleaning. I have now decided to move to asbestos roof cleaning. For this, i have to filter to 5 microns. I have tired a single filter vessel straight from dirty to 5 microns, but it clogged up every 5 minutes!

I have now purchase this unit. http://www.ultimatewasher.com/wash-water-filtration-systems.htm#recycle

Unit X-11.

I see a few of these units have popped up on this forum but no reviews from users. Do you think it would handle up to 30 LPM/ 6.5 GPM of dirty asbestos water?

Thanks in advanced. Tom

According to the specs it will handle 11 gpm......How are you planning to reclaim the dirty water?

the best thing about filtration..
you can always add a step to solve a dirt-load problem.
Generally..
Start with heavy-solids filtration.. A SandTrap or Leaf-trap gets the bigStuff,
..you can add to that sacrificial layer (like a burlap sack on the inlet) to catch StickyStuff like when stripping pavers or graffiti
Next step is the smaller debris & bigDirt, say 200 microns,
then finer silt to 100 microns, then 20 microns,
..and there from you might be ready for that 5 micron element.

Once you get the basics place, you can add multiples for added dirt-load capacity..
say the 5mic bag I sill blinding too fast..
add 2 more in parallel, and you can go 3 times longer before babysitting the filter again.
If the 100 mic. filter overflows too fast.. add more of those, or add a 150 mic. filter before it, etc.

The jobsite "is what it is" .. and it tells you" what it needs..
If it needs to be swept first, ..sweep it ! ..or Dry-vacuum it, etc.

Coordinate your tools WITH the jobsite, and you will never be caught "left-footed" in front of a customer,
or your profitability.
I have all these tools in stock.. call for more info.

Thanks for the replies. I'm planning on blocking up the box gutter down pipe and pumping it into a 205 litre barrel. Then a sump pump in a 400 micron bag to pump to the filter system.

I will keep the different media options in mind.

Hi agian guys

I have now received my unit and all I can say is it doesn't work.

The water I am pumping to it is black water with asbestos fibres suspended within. My third seperation tank has sponge installed, the same as all the further chambers. Within 5 minutes it's overflowing because the foam is blocked. Now I can't just take it out and change it as all the dirty waster will flow to the next chamber. It's that thick that even a burlap sack blocks within a few minutes too.

Would purforated mesh in different micron ratings work better?

Can any one help me with how you guys filter you're water.

Thank you.
