Anyone place a listing with The US yellow pages?

Website or paying to promote is way better money spent and probably a lot less. I know I am not in the US, but most don't use the yellow pages, and most just punch in google to find you. A good website with promo will look a lot better and do better then yellow pages stuff.

I think this is internet yellow pages,(not sure if you thought it is an actual book) just not certain this is the right one. One of them is called YP, which is popular. I already have a website and advertise on adwords. My site does good. And so does adwords.

The only thing good about YP is their sales pitch.

But it doesn't hurt to try... I myself am not a fan of it, but it might work for you.

If you get even one job from YP, then you're good!

I stand corrected, this is the paper version...nevermind. They offer a free internet listing. I'm not advertising in the phone book.

I have a free listing in YP and it already got me a few gutter cleaning jobs. I think they might have put me out there on the top of the list, because I got the jobs pretty much right after I put the listing in. Then they started soliciting for a paid listing, after that no more leads. That's exactly what Angies List did. I got a bunch of leads off of it, and all of a sudden got barraged with phone calls, letters and emails, trying to get $300 out of me to be put on the first page of their searches. So much for the tagline,"contractors can't pay to be on Angie's List".

Ralph,

You can do what we did a few years ago with YP and just pick one city/area that you want and test it for the year. For instance we picked Winter Park, which is a nice area we do a lot of work in, and for the book and internet listing it was only $60 month. We get at least one job a month from it (usually 2-3), so it definitely has a positive ROI.

I have not heard of the US Yellowpages, just the AT&T Yellow pages or Yellow Book.

I know some people that have to be in them as in their industries not enough people are searching online yet, more and more each year but not enough yet.

Each year they get larger ads and the increase of work is worth it to them, one has a website but when asking customers how they found him, almost all said the phone book.

I would ask your customers how they found you and see how many actually use the phone book, if the numbers are up there, it might not be a bad investment but you need the right book, too many copycats and worthless books out there that try to act like they are the real deal.

Good luck.
